Ground Anchor Construction: Packer Injection—These Are the Absolute Musts!

I think there are occasional situations where packers are used in ground anchor construction.

If you’ve never done any construction work using a packer before, I’m going to write about the one thing you absolutely must do.

Packer Test

 

Place the packer over the anchor and secure the leading end.

That's pretty much a given, lol.

The installation process for the packer involves tightening the top as well to prevent the cement slurry from escaping, allowing the packer to expand and harden.

 

Inject the cement slurry intermittently to maintain a pressure of 0.2 MPa; if the pressure drops below 0.2 MPa, inject it in several stages to bring the minimum pressure back up to 0.2 MPa.

There's no point in going any further, so there's no need to do more than that.

By the way, the polyethylene pipe you usually use for the injection hose is probably 4-bun, right? It’s a hose with an outer diameter of 21.5 mm and an inner diameter of 16 mm, but please be careful—it’ll burst if the pressure stays around 3.0 MPa lol.

 

If the packer pressure does not rise (which may take some time), injecting the fluid intermittently will cause the pressure inside the pipe to rise temporarily.

In anticipation of a possible rupture, please make sure to put on protective gear and the shield attached to your helmet beforehand.

After the injection is complete,This is something you absolutely must doThat's it.

Now for securing the last injection hose (polyethylene pipe)!

Fold it twice and tie it tightly to prevent the pressure from escaping!!

By doing this, the inside of the packer becomes similar to pressurized concrete, resulting in a more concentrated cement slurry.

 

This becomes clear when you compare a pressurized packer with one that isn't.

It is clear that the cement slurry, which is being held under pressure, has become concentrated and that the pressure is directed inward.

 

When pressurizing the packer, be sure to bend the pipe twice to ensure that the pressure is maintained.

Gravity does provide some pressure, but it feels way more reassuring when you apply even more pressure lol.
