A topic that’s been in the news lately is the press conference held by the president of Yoshimoto Kogyo.

What did you all think?

I don't usually watch TV, so these are just my thoughts based on a news summary lol

I thought, “The CEO took way too long to show up,” but I guess that’s just how it is at a big company, huh?

I guess it's probably difficult because of all the internal coordination...

I suppose there were all sorts of twists and turns leading up to this press conference, but,

Of course, there’s the issue of antisocial groups. I suppose they can’t afford to make any missteps.

But since I think they’re everywhere, we ordinary people can’t tell them apart—that’s really scary!

 

This is about the construction industry.

If our construction company were to make a major mistake, whose responsibility would it be?

Who do you think is going to apologize to whom? (I’m sure you already know the answer.)

 

First, the president of the construction company will go to apologize to the president of the general contractor.

Then, the president of the general contractor goes to the government office to apologize.

 

In the end, the president of the general contractor will apologize.

 

While supervisors probably understand this well, many craftsmen do not.

A site representative is the president's representative.

 

This position on-site will be the one with the most authority.

However, that person is merely a representative on-site, and,

The president bears full responsibility.will be.

 

While this is the trend in the construction industry, the same can be said for other industries as well.

In other words, the president is ultimately responsible for all mistakes made by employees.

 

The president won't get involved over a minor mistake.

However, in cases involving serious accidents or negligence, penalties may apply, and compensation may be based on the degree of fault.

I think the president will definitely show up in a situation like that.

In that sense, I can understand why the president and the management team keep harping on the same thing.

From a craftsman's perspective, even when they're just doing routine construction work,

If anything happens at the construction site, the site representative is the first to be questioned, and in the worst-case scenario, they could face criminal charges or a prison sentence.

I think things will go really well if the craftsmen, the supervisor, the company, and the president all share that same mindset.

It opens up the possibility of seeing both major issues and paths that were previously hidden.
