Feeling Out of Place in My Daily Work | A Catalyst for Improvement

Today, I'm drilling holes by myself using a spring drill.

I'm a rebar installer, so I think I can manage it, lol.

That said, my former boss is working as a first-tier subcontractor, so... *grin*

My former boss is already in his mid-60s, but I'm counting on him to keep it up lol

I've always felt that this pipe looked very out of place.

I mean, sure, it would be a problem if we didn't have it, but is it really necessary as things stand?

That's what I think.

Well, of course water will come out when there's internal pressure and water pressure.

Generally speaking, even if you install a drain pipe on a sealed slope, not much water will come out.

Unless it's a place with a lot of spring water, that is.

If the underground water source (Mizumichi) reaches that pipe, water should come out.

In reality, most of them don't come out. Or it takes a while for them to come out.

 

In my very personal opinion, I think it would be better if it could be installed a little further back.

For example, a 1-meter drain pipe.

It's kind of like a simple drain, isn't it?

Driven-in drainage pipes (such as Poilot pipes) are used in embankments and similar structures.

In Iwabe as well, we drilled toward the joint, and,

I think we could control the internal pressure a little better if we could install a drain pipe about 1 meter long.

I feel like that would actually lower the life-cycle cost. (In the sense that it’s less likely to break down.)

It looks like it could be even thinner. If capillary action occurs within the rock mass, it might be able to absorb water.

Question

I’d love to build something a little simpler that can control the water pressure at the surface, lol.

I’d like to be able to gradually resolve some of the questions I’ve had for a long time.

Even now, I’m still full of questions like, “Why on earth do they do this as a matter of course during slope stabilization work?” lol
