The other day, I conducted a poll on X (formerly Twitter) about something.

Top 4 Unnecessary Things in Today's Business World During the Year-End and New Year Holidays

So, that's it.

 

I chose the top four based on my own personal bias.

 

1. Next Year's Calendar

2. Salespeople's Year-End Greeting Rounds

3. New Year's Cards

4. Year-End Gifts

 

What do you think is the thing you need least of all?

 

Personally, I was thinking, “It’s gotta be the calendar, right!???”

I'm sure you all know this, but I really don't need a calendar.

It's one of those annoying products that pop up around the New Year's holidays.

I think this is probably one of the products most often thrown away during the year-end and New Year's holidays.

I believe your company has adopted the SDGs...

 

Just one calendar you like is fine.

A tiny calendar with some random, incomprehensible landscape as the main image is just the worst, lol.

There still seems to be demand for devices that can write characters and for desktop devices that can write characters. (X survey)

I'm totally in the "I don't need a calendar" camp, lol

Even if you send it to me, someone will just take it as is, or it’ll end up in the industrial waste bin...

 

It's the same with New Year's cards, isn't it?

And for some reason, every November and December, I get those postcards that say, “I’m stopping sending New Year’s cards starting this year”!

It just makes you wonder, "What's this all about?"

 

Since no one asked for New Year's cards, you can just stop sending them whenever you want.

You don't even need to announce that you're quitting, lol.

If a company supports the SDGs, it doesn't need to send New Year's cards, right?

 

People just send year-end gifts on their own, but since most people follow the "if you get something, take it" philosophy, there isn't much criticism, lol.

We can just divide it up within the company.

Salespeople think this is just part of the job, don't they?

It’s like an old tradition—salespeople keep coming by, but apparently everyone finds it a nuisance lol

But that's not the point these days.

And it's the end-of-year and New Year's season, too.

And then there's the labor shortage.

Each of us has a fair amount of work to do, so yeah, it’s a hassle, lol.

 

I really don't want to meet a sales rep from a materials supplier during the already-busy year-end and New Year's season lol

I just think, “If I need something, I’ll call!”

These days, there’s no need to force yourself to meet up with people.

Going out of my way during the New Year's holidaysYou don't have to go out of your way to make people dislike you.That's what I think.

 

If I'm going anyway, I should definitely avoid the New Year's holiday season—it's best to go when the site is up and running.

As expected, the results show that everyone doesn't want people to come over during the New Year's holidays lol
