I've been back on-site doing construction management for the first time in a while lol
After all, there's a shortage of directors out there!
I'll head out to the site too if I have time!
We're also short on supervisors, so I've been running around all over the place every day, lol.
The hardest part about being a supervisor is that even though you're tied to the job site all day, you still have to go home and do cost estimates and quotes.
Well, if it's just while I'm drilling, I could technically do it by opening my laptop in the car.
That said, there are a lot of subscription-based services these days, so it can be a hassle when I can’t get approval on-site because there’s no internet connection, lol.
But those digital whiteboards these days are really convenient, aren't they?
The photos I take go straight to the cloud, and the descriptions and stats are automatically added—it's super convenient!
It’d be nice if this could lighten the director’s workload even a little, since that would lower the bar for becoming a director, though~
Being a director is actually a pretty easy job, but it’ll take about three years to start with. After that, I think it’ll take another three years or so.
It's a tough field where knowledge, theory, experience, and communication skills are what really matter.
And experience as a general contractor is also very important.
If you don't understand the prime contractor's perspective or the government agency's thinking, communication becomes one-sided.
On Sunday, I was just thinking to myself, “It sure takes time for a director to grow, doesn’t it?” lol
I really felt that we need to create things that will help this generation grow up faster.
I have a plan, so all I have to do is get started, but I just don't have the time... lol
I wonder if there's anyone out there who wants to handle construction management, slope stabilization, and anchor work all at once... lol
Even just one of them would be fine.
