You Can Never Beat Someone Who Works Steadily | The Power of Persistence

It's a beautiful, sunny day in Hokkaido.

I've been wrestling with this drill since last week, lol.

A pretty old Mitsubishi 230.

Man, it's so hard to use. It's unbearable. Plus, the nuts come loose all over the place.

I hardly ever do dry runs, you know? Yet it still comes loose.

I guess I'll have to check the nuts every day, huh? lol

Also, check the oil.

It's tough when you switch to a different model. Especially for someone like me, who's barely more than a beginner.

That said, I’m actually a little better at it today than I was the other day, right? lol

Tomorrow will be better than today. I’ll keep getting better, little by little.

Even skilled craftsmen start out as complete beginners.

If you keep working day in and day out, you’ll become a pro before you know it, but craftsmen with a different level of dedication will reach even greater heights.

A craftsman of that caliber is called a "master craftsman." Or maybe a "foreman"?

If you keep at it steadily every day, you’ll end up going places you never imagined, but if you slack off even once, you’ll have to start all over again.

Well, it’s not really a do-over, but mentally, it feels like one, lol (I can lie to myself so easily, lol).

Step by step

I write on my blog every day, too, but I can't stop doing this either... lol

You can't get to amazing places all at once. You can only get there slowly, step by step.

It's just like trust or credibility. You can only build them up one at a time. (I've been there, lol.)

If you let someone down even once, it takes a long time to make up for it. (It might even be impossible to make up for it.)

The climb is slow, but the descent is over in an instant.

 

A little bit every day. That's the quickest way to get there.

So I've been taking it one step at a time, too. I've been doing that steadily for the past 10 years.

I'll keep working hard and staying true to myself for the next 10 years, lol.

Lately, I've been working hard, step by step, on operating the rotary percussion machine!

Since I started out as a site supervisor, the hands-on work is really tough.

Plus, at our current job site, three site supervisors are drilling anchor holes lol

 

So, what happens when three site supervisors work on a project? Since all three are constantly keeping an eye on the big picture, their movements are fluid!

All three of us are capable of performing the surgery for now, so whoever is available at the time will do the surgery and assist.

All three of them are pros at photo management, so they just write on the blackboard and wrap it up in a flash, lol.

Anyone can answer the general contractor's questions. They can tell you exactly where in which book the information is found.

That was one of the advantages.

 

However, since Demilitt isn't a professional craftsman, his work is a bit slow.

A pro would dig four holes, but I can only manage three. (Maybe I’m being a bit too critical since I’m the director...)

That one-unit difference is huge. Since all three of us know how to do the math, the conversation immediately turns to commission, lol.

That's kind of interesting.

 

I'm working with the mindset that I'll have improved quite a bit by the time this project is finished, so I'm sure that will be the case.

I keep an eye on the gauges, too, while imagining how professional craftsmen used to do it.

I'm keeping my head up, staying focused, and working at it steadily.

Nothing beats steady, consistent effort, right?

This is purely a matter of numbers, but it does show that there’s a significant difference.

 

This post is a bit of a ramble and has absolutely nothing to do with the construction work, but I just wanted to share that I realized how important it is to keep at it, little by little.
