This is Enta.
This is one of several festivals this year, and there was a summer festival in Iwakura City, where Enta is located.
I'm just hanging around, doing this and that in a sort of volunteer capacity, but,
Festivals really are the best!
There's nothing like seeing the smiles on the faces of the local people!

Somehow, it makes me happy, too.

Hey everyone, have you heard of spinners?
I first found out about it at the festival the other day, and apparently it's flying off the shelves!
Apparently, it's officially called a "hand spinner."
It's just a device where you hold the center part and turn it.
Structurally, there’s a bearing in the center, and three weights rotate. That’s all there is to it...
But apparently, this is flying off the shelves among elementary school kids lol
It's true—it's just spinning around, but it's kind of addictive.
It makes you want to keep spinning it forever.
Plus, when you tilt it slowly, you can feel the centrifugal force in your fingers, which is kind of fun.
I wonder what that's all about? lol

Would what we did back in our 40s—things like pen spinning—count as part of the trends of that era??
It just makes you want to spin it.
So, after doing some research, it seems there are even high-end items available, ranging in price from a few hundred yen to tens of thousands of yen.
The Era Ahead
I think we’ll see products and construction methods emerge that are so astonishing they’ll make people say, “What on earth is this?”
I’d like to have the flexibility to adapt to whatever comes my way.
As expected, people who are stuck in that era and that time tend to talk about things from way back then.
That's not bad in itself. But what comes next?? I used to know. What about now??
I think there are a lot of young people who feel that way.

When I think about it that way, I think today’s young people are perfectly normal, and I feel they have a clear-eyed view of the world.
Even if we older guys and gals feel a bit out of place in the world created by that younger generation, I feel like accepting it is the way for us to move forward into the next era.
It's as baffling as a fidget spinner, but somehow fun. It's starting to feel like a whole new sensory experience.
Back then, it was an era of practical work, practical skills, and technology, and anything frivolous was weeded out.
From now on, I guess the kinds of things and construction methods that are a bit silly but somehow interesting will become the mainstream.
I guess we've entered an era where you can't tell what's real anymore, lol.
I was totally blown away by the hand spinner this time, so I just wanted to share a little bit about it lol
