The other day, we received a phone call at the job site.
"This is [Name] from [Company Name]. Is [Name] available?"
Since it was a call forwarded from the office, I replied, “I’m out in the field right now.”
Then he said, “I went to the XX site last week, but since you weren’t there, I called the office.”
That's what they say.
I was a bit confused, so I asked for more details.
"Are you saying you came to the site after consulting with our ○○?"
When I asked him that, he said, “No, I looked at the organizational chart posted at the site and called the company!”
Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?!
What does that mean??
I was even more confused, so I asked for the company name and his name again, just to be sure, and
"I'll check with him and have him call you," I said, and hung up.
Starting from there, first...Search for the company name online. Search for the phone number online. Search for related names as well.That's it.
And then they just kept coming, one after another!

When I called the person in question to confirm, they said they had absolutely no recollection of it and didn’t know anything about it at all. (Which is only to be expected.)
The fact that I received a scam call doesn't really matter; the most important thing is to look at the subcontractor organization chart posted on-site, and
They call the company using that company name, along with the name of the representative and the chief engineer.That's about it!
What's more, I was surprised that they even mentioned the name of the site. (I mean, it's all written right at the entrance to the site, lol.)
In a sense, we as public sector entities are disclosing personal information to malicious individuals.
If someone calls the company and gives the site name and a person's name, there's no way to doubt it.
What's more, the office staff probably wouldn't know any better. There's a good chance they might even give out the phone number.
At work, if..."I went to the ○○ site last week, but Mr./Ms. ○○ wasn't there, so I gave him/her a call!"
If you get a call like that, please be very careful.
What's more, they say it in a very calm and matter-of-fact way, so be very careful.
CountermeasuresAs for that, I’ll listen to the details (even though it’s a waste of time),Search by Company Name, Phone Number, or NamePlease do so.
Then, please share the results with that employee. (Just in case they might recognize themselves in the findings.)
