I've been posting that rebar insertion worker survey for a while now, so the number of participants has been quietly growing, lol.

I'll just keep this here in the hope that it might spark the interest of even one more person.

That said, everyone’s views are generally pretty much the same, andI don't need a sheath!

I wonder what the manufacturer thinks when they see this??

The other day, I was talking to a senior colleague about the above.

That person is also a veteran in this industry and is now a general contractor, so I hear they’ve eliminated everything that isn’t necessary. (They’ve made changes.)

Twenty-five years ago, rebar insertion work involved embedding the rebar permanently.

NEXCO, in particular, has been a pioneer in this area.

After installing the rebar, we set up the formwork and applied the sprayed concrete over the rebar, embedding it in the concrete.

This was back in the days when there was no such thing as head processing.

At that time, we were still using bare rebar (uncoated rebar).

That's why, even though I was really careful with material management, the rust was pretty bad, lol.

Before I know it, I’m putting the cap on and sealing it shut. It’s become pretty common to add oil these days, hasn’t it?

Since I didn't fill in the gaps, a sheath formed.

However, these days, it’s standard practice to leave a gap. A sheath is not necessary.

I'd like construction consultants to start realizing this soon.

If we could just eliminate that from the design, it would make our jobs easier and help us cut down on unnecessary expenses, right?

That's a smart and simple idea, lol.

On the other hand, if we were to develop something to replace this, would that be a business opportunity in a way?? lol

That said, since there are already good products like flat caps available, it would probably be better to switch to those instead.

That's a smarter and more natural way to do it.
