Materials That Don't End Up as Trash Even When There Are Leftovers | Environmental Considerations

Things have been so hectic that I'm not getting around to posting this blog until now.

I went to check out the site the other day.

Construction in the city is a real scorching hell, lol.

It was super hot.

PC SpacerWe're spraying mortar at our construction site.

This is a stone wall at an elementary school. We’ll apply mortar to it and insert rebar.

 

We use PC spacers.

I’ve been using this PC spacer lately, and it’s made me realize that,

If there are any leftovers, just fit them in wherever they'll go.Doesn't end up as trash...lol

 

Don't you usually tell the contractors at just about any job site, “If you have any spacers left over, take them home!”?

Or would that be considered industrial waste if you paid for it right away?

 

With PC spacers, you can just stick them on haphazardly without any structural issues.

Wouldn't it be a little worrisome if you just randomly attached a bunch of these plastic spacers when you had some left over?

You're probably wondering, "Is it strong enough?" lol

Plastic and concrete don't mix well. (They're not compatible.)

 

If this were a steel product, the amount of rebar in the concrete would increase, so in a sense, it does seem reassuring.

(Though you can’t really call spacers “rebar.”)

That means it's okay to use a lot of it.

Even if there are some left over, it's fine as long as you put them all on. I haven't really thought about the hassle of putting them on, though lol.

 

If there is a large surplus and you give it to the construction company, it can be disposed of at a scrap metal dealer since it’s a resource.

This is really an important point, isn't it?

Do you spend money to throw it away, or get paid to throw it away?

Which one do you like better?

 

There's another reason to use this spacer: it makes disassembly easier than you might think.

These wire-like spacers get tangled up all the time, don't they?

It's designed to minimize tangling as much as possible.

It's a little trick to keep you from going "Aaaaaah!" on the job, lol.

 

Why not give it a try before you end up going "Aaaaaah"? lol
