It's been a week since I decided not to work on Sundays.
I still feel kind of restless, lol.
It looks like it'll take some time to get used to it.
But that's beside the point.
Drilling machines and all those other parts are really expensive, aren't they?
I get it. It’s expensive when you consider the development costs.
However, since they're expensive, we want to make and use anything we can produce ourselves.
If I'm still having trouble, I'll naturally buy the manufacturer's product.
These are the components for the suspended core drill used in this project.

That's the part that goes on the tip, isn't it?
And this is all for just one set... at a price that makes you go, "Whaaaaaat?!"...
So, I think I'll try making it using 3D CAD.
First, let's take the measurements.

We collect detailed data like this.

Create the perimeter data.

There's a hole.

Trim the outer edge.

I drilled the bolt holes.
All that's left is to turn this on a lathe, cut it in half, and heat treat it—then it's done.
Thanks to 3D CAD, we’ve recently reached a point where we can create just about anything.
Well, I can build simple mechanisms in one go, but with complex ones, it takes time to take measurements, and
It's quite a lot of work because you have to repeat the process of creating parts with a 3D printer and then attaching them several times.
That said, while it’s easy to design using 3D CAD, actually building it does involve a fair amount of cost.
In fact, it’s quite common for products to be significantly cheaper when purchased directly from the manufacturer.
Plus, if you don't have at least some knowledge—from the ingredients to the production process—you'll end up handing everything over to someone else, and they'll definitely take advantage of you lol.
Making things isn't always easy. As the saying goes, "Leave it to the experts."
