I was working on the crawler drill.
I’d been thinking, “Man, the chain keeps coming loose and making weird noises,” and it turns out the bearings and bushings had completely blown out lol.

So, I contacted the manufacturer and ordered just the sprocket (the part that looks like a gear on the chain).
The price is insanely high... lol
Our parts are ridiculously expensive, aren't they?
Plus, the specs of the product we received have changed slightly, so it doesn't work with our machine lol
They say the shaft diameter and the bushing diameter differ by 2 mm, so it won't fit...
The manufacturer insists it's been the same all along, but I can't help but wonder, "Is that even possible?!"...
So, we created it in-house.

From left to right: the old shaft, the rebuilt shaft, the sprocket, and the bushing inside.
Since the shaft diameter is matched to the machine diameter, we manufactured it with a diameter of 5/100 (S) and made the inside of the bushing slightly larger, at approximately 15/100 (B).
Since I machined the inner diameter of the bushing, the groove where the grease flows became slightly shallower, but I figured it was good enough.

We used S45C as the material.
The manufacturer's material might be SMC, but since it has recently become possible to gradually perform this type of lathe machining, I tend to take a laid-back approach and think, “If necessary, we can just remake it.”
Once you’ve mastered metalworking, you’ll be able to repair many more parts.
What's more, the price is incredibly low.
It's just a small thing, but it's really fun when we can do things like this in-house.
I’m hoping that once I get good enough to make slightly more complex things, I’ll be able to take on commissions as a job, lol.
Plus, it's really interesting.
I get so absorbed that I end up doing it for a long time.
It's great to have something new to take on at this age.
