The other day, an inner rod broke at the place where I teach lol
The photo above shows the process of machining the opposite end of the broken part in order to retrieve the inner rod still inside the casing.
I'm in the process of making that jig.
This is the first time a rod has broken since I started teaching.
Well, this is something that happens when you're installing anchor bolts, so it's a valuable experience.
And how we go about collecting this is what matters, right?
Ideally, I should use the one made by the manufacturer, but I don't think it'll work. (It's too thick.)
Also, I couldn't get the tip to fit in (it was too hard at the base, so I couldn't get it in lol).
So, I made a thin jig that could be inserted to make retrieval possible.
The material used is S45C, and it was finally gas-hardened (the hardening process was done roughly).
I'm hoping I can manage to drive this into the rod and retrieve it.
If that doesn't work, it looks like we'll have to come up with another plan, but I'll keep you all posted ^^
Knowing how to handle problems is extremely important, so I want to make sure we address issues like this properly.
