We have changed the grease we use.
Anchor shops use an insane amount of grease, don't they?
Even on the casing, there's a drifter from the drilling rig! You attach it to the swivel at least four times a day, right!?
Until now, we have been using organic molybdenum grease.
Not regular molybdenum, but organic molybdenum!
All of our machines used to be like that, but this time, since we're phasing out molybdenum, it's molybdenum-free!
By the way, we were using the Daido Yushi products listed on the website mentioned above.
It seems that organic molybdenum is superior to regular molybdenum. (Depending on the application.)
For us as construction contractors, any grease that provides extreme pressure, wear resistance, and impact resistance will work just fine.
The reason I made this change this time is that grease has also evolved as times have changed.
More than 20 years ago, when I first entered this industry, the only option was black molybdenum grease.
However, there are actually quite a few greases available these days that perform surprisingly well.
Back in the day, that was all there was, so it couldn't be helped, but now there are so many options it's hard to choose.
I’d actually like to use GRP grease, but I just can’t use it. (The sealed areas are made of GRP.) It’s really expensive, lol.

Construction machinery also makes extensive use of brass products.
This is to minimize the impact on other parts if that part breaks.
However, even though those parts are lubricated with grease, they’re being worn down by molybdenum.
The particles are very fine, but I'm gradually grinding them down.
It’s a mineral, after all! Molybdenum is a naturally occurring mineral.
Since it’s finely ground before use, it not only provides lubrication but also acts as a natural abrasive.
At first, after looking for a non-molybdenum option, I was planning to use urea grease.
Well, it's pretty expensive, lol.
However, when I spoke with an expert at the company we order petroleum products from, they recommended this grease to me.

It appears to have excellent heat resistance, water resistance, and shear stability, and
If you inject it into the machine and it sticks there, you won't need to refill it as often.
Apparently, it ends up being more cost-effective, so it's called a thium complex grease.
It's more economical than urea, so I recommend it.
Of course, it can also be used with swivels and the like.
I'll try using it at home for a while.
I'll let you know if the machine breaks down again, but if you don't hear from me, just assume it's working fine lol
(Well, I’ve checked with the manufacturer, and it seems it’s okay to use it with construction machinery.)

I haven't really thought about it. Any kind of grease will do, lol.
I suppose molybdenum is usually the recommended choice.
The manufacturer recommends using non-molybdenum spring drills.
