In fact, the load-bearing plate has bonded firmly to the natural ground, so there is no problem.
For zabuton frames that are originally 10 cm thick, a lean mortar mix with a ratio of 1:8 is generally considered acceptable.
That is because it is a leveling base designed to allow the load-bearing plate to conform to the zabuton frame so that force is firmly applied to the ground.
To settle into the natural ground, the zabuton frame will sink slightly or crack a little, allowing it to settle into the natural ground along with the load-bearing plate. (It won’t crack into pieces.)
Its sole purpose is to ensure that the load-bearing plate and the natural ground settle together properly (through leveling).
Even if it cracks or warps a little, it still serves its purpose.
Since it’s under load, there’s no way it could come loose or fall off.
What's more, since it's just a frame, there's netting around it and rebar inside it as well.
Anti-slip rebar has also been installed, so it won't shift.
What's more, if it's thick, it's been reinforced quite a bit, so it's highly unlikely to fall off.
Cracks tend to occur in cases where the zabuton frame is 10 cm wide, or when part of the subgrade consists of loose soil or the subgrade is soft.
Especially when the natural ground is soft, there are issues with soil bearing capacity, and cracks may form as the tension from the anchors is transmitted to the natural ground.
Especially during exams.
