The Gap in Experience Can't Be Bridged | Careers in the Construction Industry

Hello, everyone.

This is Enta.

Lately, I’ve been thinking—is this just amazing, or is that even a thing??

That's what happened.

The design calls for PC pressure-bearing plates to be installed on top of the sprayed mortar on the cut slope face, with no leveling required.

PC Pressure Plate

If it were a PC load-bearing plate on natural ground, I could understand that, but...10 cm of mortarOn top of that, there is some unevenness in the PC support plate.

The reason why leveling isn't necessary is that a field worker (a specialist contractor) from a certain company...It's not a problem because the mortar cracks and the pressure plate settles into place. That's what he reportedly said.

Since the government office said they heard that, it must be true, lol.

We keep telling them, “If you don’t back up the PC pressure plate properly, it’ll crack,” but they won’t listen to us.

I’ve been in this industry for quite a while myself, and I’ve seen plenty of cases where load-bearing panels were used with 3–5 cm layers of mortar sprayed without lath in temporary spray applications.

I can see where you're coming from when you say it "breaks in."

However, no matter how you look at it, it’s simply impossible for a 10-centimeter-thick layer of mortar to crack and settle.

It will definitely crack under uneven loading!

I've seen this happen countless times, and I've experienced it myself.

I was really surprised—and it made me laugh—to hear someone in the same industry say something like that lol.

We applied a temporary spray coat to the area shown in the photo above because the unevenness was so severe.

Under normal circumstances, after the preliminary spray application, lath is installed and temporarily tensioned, and cement slurry is injected into the injection-type zabuton material.

After the cement slurry hardened, it was supposed to be under full tension, but cracks formed even under temporary tension lol

Even though I adjusted the unevenness to a certain extent...

I don't want this to happen, so I want to make sure the work is done properly and the surface is properly prepared, you know?

Like, I really don't need that, lol.

In that case, we have no choice but to either get them to issue a written instruction stating that it’s not necessary, or to create a record in the meeting minutes stating that we discussed it.

If it breaks, who's going to take responsibility? lol

I asked you to come to the city office when I was feeling nervous, and even though there are this many irregularities, I’m going to be nervous from here on out.

Capturing both the moment it breaks and the moment of surprise on video... lol

That said, it’s part of the job to make sure that doesn’t happen—that’s what being a pro is all about—so let’s just grit our teeth and keep going, lol.

I don't know how it'll turn out, but I'll let you know, lol.

See you later.
