It seems we’ve made it past those really cold days—today feels a little warmer than it did the other day.

The other day, I went to a job site and unloaded a 3-metric-ton machine on a slope with the steepest incline I’ve ever seen lol.

First of all, people can't walk on the scaffolding!

I think this is probably the kind of thing we'd normally turn down.

Based on our past experience and track record, we are able to navigate this slope.

It's a place I'd rather avoid if possible, lol. But that would cause problems for the general contractor, so I'll do my best!

It's so scary that it's actually a wonder we haven't had an accident yet, lol.

The slope was about 38 to 40 degrees, lol.

When I looked at it from the front, it looked just like a wall—it made me laugh lol

Our employees seemed speechless at first...

That said, even though they might grumble a bit, they’ll still find a way to get the job done safely.

In the end, it took us a whole day to lower the 3-metric-ton drilling rig.

At first, I thought the friction from the scaffolding would prevent the machine from sliding down too much, but,

Thanks to the cold snap a couple of days ago, the ground is slippery.

Since the friction between the machine and the scaffolding boards was quite high, we lowered it slowly while applying tension using a chill hoist and a lever block.

And this site is a super urgent project—there’s absolutely no time to spare, lol.

I've been working overtime until 9:00 p.m. for the past few days.

However, it was very cold at the site, with temperatures dropping below minus 5 degrees.

While retrieving the inner casing, the 2-inch suction hose used for discharging cuttings from the swivel froze.

2 inches freezes in about 5 minutes...!!

That's about it. The other water lines were all filled with antifreeze, so there were no problems, but,

The section from the mechanical water supply line to the swivel has frozen.

 

All sorts of things happen on site.

Apparently, the overhauled MG-10 pump that was originally installed at this site isn't working either, for some reason...

And then we’d rush to the site with the pump at the last minute.

When something happens, stay calm and consider the following:

How can I make this work!?

Based on our experience and track record, it is our job as subcontractors to do our best to ensure that operations run smoothly on-site.That's right.

There are plenty of creative solutions on-site that aren't in the design documents.

I want to make the most of that.

 

It's Sunday today, but things are still happening on-site. So I'm on standby, lol.

I hate it when something happens and I can't move, so I'm working from home lol
