Developing Multi-Skilled Workers | Workforce Development in the Construction Industry

Hello, everyone.

This is Enta.

Today marks the start of drilling for the rebar insertion work, which began a few days ago.

We were actually supposed to start drilling a day ago, but we ran into some trouble and had to push it back a day lol.

I can't really say whether this was just something that couldn't be helped or not—it was a bit of a vague problem—but anyway, we're starting the drilling!

Drilling Status

I set up the drilling machine, did a little test drilling myself, and then handed it over to the guy in the photo.

And,He's Nozzleman!

 

I've been a Nozzleman for about 15 years, I guess!?

No matter the job site, we'll spray-paint it to perfection!

His grip is insanely strong, and his palms are all calloused, lol.

So, as far as slopes are concerned, we should be able to handle just about everything!

 

However, my experience with drilling machines isZee~ro~

Do this, do that, and—oh no—this part is dangerous.

Give instructions out loud to the person next to you, and use verbal cues as well...

"Pull back—reverse—forward," I said out loud, all the while keeping an eye on my hands.

If I do this, my hands are in danger; if I do that, my hands are in danger; if this happens, I'm in danger.

 

I was taught how to do it, and today I drilled 20 holes for 2-meter rebar inserts lol

It's good enough for a first try.

I was pretty nervous and operating the machine tentatively, so I guess I’m a little tired today? lol

 

Why on earth are they making Nozzleman operate the drilling machine!?

Is it enough to just work on the slope?

Is it enough to just do the anchor?

These days, things aren't like that anymore.

 

You can build a slope, but you can also install anchors.

We can install both rockfall protection barriers and rockfall nets.

We can install rope nets and perform maintenance.

You're truly a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to slope work, aren't you?

 

We also need professionals who are dedicated solely to that.

However, what’s in even greater demand are craftsmen who can handle just about anything.

In our industry, when it comes to which types of jobs are overwhelmingly more common, it’s mostly those small-scale slope stabilization projects that anyone can do, right?

There aren't that many construction projects that require incredibly advanced technology. Especially when it comes to slopes!

Reverse-Winding Installation: Second Layer Complete

Wouldn't it make things easier for the general contractor if just one company could handle the reverse-spin installation?

If the operator takes a day off, the work on site comes to a halt, right?

You can't spray it without a gunman, right?

Isn't there something appealing about the fact that anyone can do it?

Losses have dropped dramatically, haven't they??

 

At Enta, we’ve set things up so that a single crew can perform reverse-circulation drilling by carrying everything from the drilling rig to the nozzle.

We have our strengths and weaknesses when it comes to construction methods, but once we get used to the site, we’re faster than any other crew, right?

Because there's absolutely no hassle or downtime involved in switching construction crews.

 

And above all, the craftsman’s own skills will improve dramatically!

When installing formwork, we pay close attention to details such as the placement of rebar and the method for cutting out openings.

This is something you only notice because you know everything; if you didn't know, you'd just wing it.

 

It’s really important that people other than the supervisor are able to think about the upcoming construction work.

If that happens, it will make the supervisor’s job easier, and construction efficiency will improve, which will naturally lead to better results.

Developing multi-skilled workers brings nothing but benefits!!

Furthermore, actively developing multi-skilled workers will lead to increased profits.

When you become a multi-skilled craftsman, you’ll really come to understand what you’re good at and what you’re not, right?
