Lately, I've been thinking a lot about theft prevention.

How do you prevent theft of construction equipment?

Do you use GPS or something like that to keep track of them?

It seems that small and medium-sized independent contractor firms like ours haven't taken any measures at all.

So if it gets stolen, you just have to accept it and move on?

I suppose I could file a theft report, though.

In the end, the police won't do anything. Sure, if the culprit is there, they'll arrest him. That's the police's job.

But until I find it, it's my own work.

 

So how do we find it? Should we build a system??

The most common example is probably GPS, right? But it’s not exactly widely available for purchase, is it?

We've never had a salesperson like that come to our place before, have we?

 

Why is that??

So I guess that means it's not very common, right?

On the other hand, it’s also possible that everyone is doing it on the sly.

It's entirely possible that only the company's executives know about this, while regular employees are in the dark.

So, when a theft occurs, do the executives (or the department in charge) report it promptly?

 

And here’s my own final conclusion—based on what I found after doing some research online.

GPS loggers for the construction industry are super expensive!

There's no way small and medium-sized contractors like us can handle this!!

That amount is clearly way out of my league!!!

Most places offer leases, but the monthly lease payment is over 10,000, isn't it?

It's as cheap as 500 yen a day, you know?

A GPS logger costs around 15,000 yen per unit.

When you think about it, I guess that price is understandable... but still, it's a bit much, isn't it?

 

So, after looking into it a bit, I decided I might as well just make it myself lol. (Just a moment ago lol)

It's a GPS logger designed specifically for the construction industry! Plus, it's super cheap—you'll definitely want to get one!!

For now, I guess I'll just make two or three of them and test them out myself to see what happens.

But the problem is the map.

Google Maps is free for personal use, but it costs money for business use lol

Prices have been coming down quite a bit lately, though...

I'll just try doing something for now.

 

If it's still financially impossible, then you'll either have to give up or team up with someone.
