It appears that the general contractor’s system includes features such as safety management, access control, CCUS, daily reports, and drawing sharing, among others.
As subcontractors, our main responsibility is maintaining safety management records, such as worker rosters.
So, I have to start all over again and enter the employee roster and other information... yet again!
By "this again," I mean on Green Site, lol.
New systems keep popping up one after another, and every time I go out to a site, I end up having to set them up, don't I?
It looks easy because Excel handles the text wrapping, but the wrapping is actually very half-baked, and
In the end, I had to enter more than half of the data on that site anyway. (It won't import the data even if there are no errors...)
Ended up having to do it twice lol
Digital transformation in the construction industry is extremely labor-intensive.
It just seems to me that they're severely lacking in productivity.
To begin with, there is a form used in the construction industry called the “Zenken Form.”
Why isn't this systematized so that all construction companies can use it at the same time?
Why do subcontractors have to go along with that digital transformation (DX) by using the general contractor’s proprietary formats and the like?
Subcontractors are like, “Just work it out among yourselves, you general contractors!” lol
Everyone is wondering, “Does it even make sense for every company to be doing digital transformation?”
Is it just a matter of each company doing its own thing, thinking that as long as their own company achieves digital transformation, that’s all that matters?
In the end, it’s the subcontractors who end up having a tough time, signing up for all kinds of sites and getting scattered all over the place, you know?
Well, I guess if everyone is told to take on subcontracting work, they’ll do it.
But is this digital transformation really boosting productivity?
I think subcontracting is definitely on the decline, don't you?
Even though we're short-staffed, he's not out in the field—he's just messing around on his computer at the office lol
So, once I made that, the general contractor asked, “Do you have that document?”
They even want the renewal documents and the ones from before the renewal—they’re asking for documents I don’t even need to submit, lol.
It must be tough for the people checking it, and it’s tough for us, too, having to double-check everything, get all the documents together, and upload them...
Plus, when you think about the hassle of updating or editing it even after you've made it once, I'm not so sure...
Even though it's work, it's a real pain, isn't it? (I wish we could just use the Zenken format.)
I think anyone who’s ever felt this way will really understand.
I really want all contractors to standardize their safety documents using the Zenken format as part of the Construction DX initiative!!!
Construction DX has become a bit hard to understand, hasn't it? lol (Just my personal opinion)
