Do you smoke?
The other day, as I was walking through town, a group of middle-aged construction workers (in their mid-50s and older) walked right past me.
Then, one middle-aged man, glancing around to make sure no one was watching, littered.
My first thought was, “If you care about others, why would you litter!?” but,
After that, the other guys also littered without a second thought.
There was a construction site for a building just ahead, so I think they were probably workers there.
As soon as they step off the job site, they just toss their trash on the ground.
It makes me, who's watching this, and the people around me feel uncomfortable, doesn't it?
Plus, it really stands out!
In particular, we,He's well-built, and since he's wearing work clothes, they're dirty!
If you just toss a cigarette butt there, it really stands out, doesn't it?
Let's compare this to IT companies, on the other hand.
Even just thinking of it as a workplace, it seems sophisticated, and since it’s an indoor office, it doesn’t really bring to mind cigarettes, does it?
But in reality, there are actually quite a few companies where employees work while programming and chain-smoking (like a company I know, lol).
But since that doesn't really show on the surface, people's perception of me hasn't changed!
For those of us who work outdoors, the number of hours we spend smoking is strictly limited.
Only during breaks!
Other than that, there is no designated time for smoking. (This rule is generally the same at every company.)
Especially in the construction industry these days, most job sites don't allow smoking while working, right?
We’ve had workers here in the past who didn’t understand the rule against smoking while on the job. (Would they even get it if we told them?)
I'm really grateful that there aren't any smokers here at all right now. (Smokers are required to smoke only during designated times.)
Since we work outdoors, I believe we need to improve our image even more than we have now.
It's an industry that's always been called "3K" and even referred to as the "bottom of the barrel," lol.
The actual workplace is pretty clean, and the pay is through the roof—so far from being at the bottom, there are actually a lot of high earners!
It’s extremely important because if you don’t maintain a good image, it will affect your future job search.
You’d all love to see more and more new hires joining your company, right!?
We in the construction industry don't litter!
Since the image is already negative, simply not littering is sure to improve it!
I hope construction workers will be careful when they go out to eat while working in urban areas.
We want to improve our image by strictly adhering to the rules and etiquette in our mountain work as well!
