I went there for the first time!!
From the entrance
It's about a 10-minute walk to the facility.
The grounds are so huge that driving around seems to be the norm, lol.
It's a beautiful spot with clear autumn skies—it feels really great!
The road stretching straight ahead made the vastness feel even more pronounced.
Inside the facility, there are lots of different experimental facilities, including ones designed to simulate the seafloor and miniatures of concrete structures!
There were special vehicles driving around, measuring (or diagnosing?) road conditions as they went.
In a way, it was like another world, lol.
The experiments were conducted at a facility that had previously been used for dust experiments in tunnels.
The sheer scale of building a tunnel above ground!!
To be honest, I was completely overwhelmed by the concept of a nation!
The inside of this tunnel is lined with steel plates and the outside is covered in concrete, so there are actually spots where your cell phone signal drops the moment you step inside, lol.
Inside, PC steel strands used in ground anchor construction were employed to recreate the same conditions as on-site.
I can't disclose the details or results of the experiment, but it was a very interesting one.
Among them, there was an experiment I thought, “I’d like to try that out on site sometime,” so I’m secretly planning to give it a shot lol
The construction projects we carry out every day are also being thoroughly studied by national research institutions.
I guess they're making little updates here and there without us even knowing.
Watching the professors collect data while debating this and that,
I really feel that we contractors need to put more thought into this and keep working to produce better construction work and products.
