The embedment length must not exceed 10 meters | Standards for Anchor Design

Hello, everyone.

This is Enta.

Something a little shocking happened recently, but,

It's a job involving temporary anchors.

The design load exceeds 1,000 kN.

Yeah, well, as long as the design works fine as it is, that's probably okay.

However, when I took a closer look at the drawings, I noticed that the anchorage length exceeds 10 meters.

Anchor Length and Pull-Out Force
Design and Construction Standards for Ground Anchors, and Commentary Thereon, Japanese Geotechnical Society, p. 67

The ultimate pull-out force per anchor does not increase proportionally even as the anchor body length is increased, and

Once it exceeds 10 meters, the increase practically stops.

Since friction can’t be eliminated in the section that ultimately exceeds 10 meters, will this anchor come loose? Or...

Will the bracket give way under 1,000 kN and the H-beam come crashing down with a *BOOM*?? lol

It's truly terrifying.

We are still in the process of redesigning and discussing this matter, so I will provide another update later.

See you later.
