The other day, I was looking at the blueprints for a certain construction site.

This is a ground anchor project site, but the drawings say "rock bolt work."

The structural drawings include drawings of KTB anchors.

Well, I figured it must be a mistake.

 

And when I was looking at the cross-section, the small anchor diagram drawn there just looked kind of off, lol.

It kind of looks like a rock bolt...

Since it was a PDF, I didn't really understand it at the time.

 

And the other day, I received the design calculations I had requested from the general contractor.

And there were rock bolt installers there, too...

Huh??

As I looked through them one by one, there was the name "Gebindestab"!!

Wow, that anchor name really brings back memories.

 

Is this old news to those in the know?

Back in the day, there used to be anchors made by coating steel rods of varying diameters—similar to rebar—with epoxy resin.

The color is a refreshing light blue!

There used to be anchors like that, but,

I don't think it's used as a ground anchor anymore—it seems to be considered an obsolete type of anchor.

 

Well, when you see that anchor, I guess it’s understandable if you mistake it for a rock bolt.

The design is based on drawings and calculation sheets that are completely different from each other, and the calculations themselves are...

This doesn't happen very often, so it's a rare occurrence.

 

Some of the anchors shown in the drawing are KTB anchors, and others are Gebindestab anchors.

The design calculation sheet shows the results of calculations using Gebindestab. The anchors used are Gebindestab.

The quantity survey was performed by KTB Anchor.

Each one is a unique case.

So, I'll try recalculating it lol

It’s so much fun working in civil engineering when designs like this come in right in the middle of all this crazy busyness, lol.
