It's a simplistic view, but it really comes down to urbanization.
To put it simply, urbanization increases the area that heats up, preventing the heat from escaping.
That's what's commonly known as the "heat island effect," isn't it?
So, the more urbanization progresses, the hotter it gets.
I think this trend will likely continue to gain momentum, but the movement of people within cities has slowed due to the economic impact of the pandemic.
And if people didn't gather in cities but stayed spread out, would things ease up a little??
