Hello, everyone.
This is Enta.
Do any of you have a flavor that brings back memories? lol
For example, a meal that brings back memories, or a flavor that feels like something you’ve forgotten but your brain just can’t let go of.

This is the Sapporo Ichiban Shio Ramen my dad made for me lol
It's just instant ramen, but I'll never forget it.
Since my dad’s a chef, people often think, “You should be able to make something better than that!” but the salt ramen he makes is truly one of a kind ^^
I like Dad's cooking better than Mom's... (Sorry, Mom lol)
How about you all?
Why not try making it every now and then when you think of it?
It's nice to go back to the past every once in a while.
I do have some unpleasant memories, though ^^
But that's beside the point.
Do you have a job that stands out in your memory?

When I was around 20, I was in charge of the Ryumon Dam in Kumamoto, Kyushu; then, in my mid-20s, the Tokuyama Dam in Gifu Prefecture; and after that, the preliminary restoration efforts following the Chuetsu Earthquake.
At Ryumon Dam, this was back when a bag of cement still weighed 40 kg.
I was pouring cement instead of the contractor, lol.
With my Canon film SLR camera slung over my shoulder, I’m also handling construction management—I’m so busy that I end up staying at the site office every night.
Back in the day, dam construction was all about rushing, rushing—we just kept churning out the drawings one after another.
I remember that back in the old Ministry of Construction, they used to produce about seven copies of a drawing for every single change.
Anyway, I have to draw thousands of square meters of legal boundaries by hand, so it's total hell lol
None of my seniors helped me, so I did everything on my own.
Those are good memories.

For projects such as the Tokuyama Dam and the Chuetsu Earthquake reconstruction, I worked alone day and night to carry out construction based directly on the preliminary design, prepare cost estimates, and manage the construction.
Anyway, I was working nonstop—I didn't even have time to complain like an idiot ^^
I think I've written about this before, but I'm still haunted by that past.
If you don't give up, things will work out, Yan!!!
I'm living my life while being dragged back by the past, lol.
On the other hand, there are times when I think, “If only I hadn’t done it that way back then,” or “I wish I hadn’t done it that way.”
So, when it comes to things I'm not good at, I do tend to feel self-conscious about them.
If anything, negative memories from the past serve as a form of self-defense for who I am today. (Avoiding danger)
Because that's just how the brain works, it will inevitably dwell on the past.
I carry all of them with me—both the good memories and the bad ones.
This isn't a bad thing at all; everything—including that—is part of my experience and track record.
With that in mind, I'll keep at it today.

If you think of past failures as a way to avoid danger now, you'll be able to do things better than you did before, right?
I guess it's enough if I'm just a little better than I used to be, right?
It's impossible for someone to suddenly get a lot better at something.
When you think about it, it really comes down to quantity, doesn't it?
Nowadays, thanks to work-style reforms, ICT implementation, and digital transformation (DX) in the construction industry, manual labor is gradually becoming a thing of the past.
Ultimately, it’s about gaining experience faster than anyone else, failing faster than anyone else, and getting more done than anyone else!
Young people who want to become capable at their jobs.
This is the best secret.
For those of you who want to be better at your job than that jerk of a senior colleague or that jerk of a branch manager!!
Even if you have to humble yourself and ask for guidance now, by putting in more work than anyone else, you’ll find yourself at the top before you know it!! (It’ll take time.)
I think that’s something the civil engineering industry will particularly need going forward.
(The value of doing that now—in an era when it wasn't possible—will undoubtedly shape the future.)

Let's grow into middle-aged guys while carrying around a whole bunch of past failures!
By that point, I'll have racked up so much experience that I'll be a walking bundle of experience points. (I'll be the strongest.)
Just as we hold onto the delicious memories from our childhood, let’s also hold onto the bad ones and live our lives to the fullest right now ^^
People who are proactive now will continue to be proactive even as they get older, and they’ll have built up a large circle of friends around them.
If you run away, they'll chase you and eventually catch up to you. If you chase them, you'll always be covered in scrapes but you'll stay on top lol
It depends on the person which one is more fun, so I can't say for sure, but I hope you'll be someone who challenges yourself, even just a little.
See you later.
