It's the start of the new fiscal year!!
That said, the world is in a complete mess because of the novel coronavirus.
There are no orientation ceremonies or similar events, and I’ve heard that, depending on the circumstances, some people may have their job offers rescinded during this time.
It’s the worst recession—or maybe I should say situation—that I’ve ever seen...
There is a very real possibility that the number of people leaving their jobs will increase sharply in the near future.
And once that happens, it’s only natural that we in the construction industry will also be affected.
That's a thief.
The number of thieves is increasing because people want money for tomorrow.
In the construction industry, they just plop expensive equipment right there.
We have one at our house, too.
A 4-million generator! A 2-million compressor!!
A spray machine for 5 million! A drilling machine for 20 million!!!
It's just sitting there at the worksite, lol.
Well, since this is an industry where 2-ton and 3-ton trucks are commonplace, they don't get stolen very often, but relatively light items do get stolen.
For example, pressure washers, small generators, and submersible pumps.
A thick 60sq cap tire (we had one of these stolen by an internal thief in the past.)
Impact wrench (this was also stolen by an internal thief, lol)
Items that are easy to steal and easy to sell are snatched up in a flash.
That said, it’s fine if the worksite has cameras installed, but most companies don’t...
The only way to deal with this is to make it look like you're taking measures.
Things like installing solar-powered motion-sensor lights or covering it with a blue tarp,
How about attaching bells to the rope used to secure the blue tarp in a few places so it makes a sound?
That's the kind of extra effort that's needed.
I kind of feel like it would be better if it were a Japanese theft ring. (Not that it’s okay, though.)
That's because foreign theft rings will ruthlessly take everything, leaving nothing behind.
And in a pretty rough way, at that.
I've also heard that, in the worst-case scenario, all sorts of things could get destroyed.
Let's be especially careful from now on.
The number of thefts is on the rise.
It was the same during the Lehman crisis!
I think it will increase in the same way this time as well.
Let's cover it up properly so it won't be noticeable.
It's frustrating, but we have no choice but to take measures.
However, if it's something you can take home, you should probably take it home.
Also, if an item is stolen, there’s a good chance that small items will be listed on Yahoo! Auctions or Mercari.
Therefore, please make sure to clearly identify your own aircraft.
At our house, we put stickers and secret marks in places like this—both where you can see them and where you can’t.
It's easy to find them if they're listed online. (It's usually secondhand shops that take high-quality photos.)
Since thieves want to turn the items into cash quickly, they’ll likely sell them to a nearby secondhand store, so giving them a call is a good idea.
If I find one on Yahoo! Auctions or at a secondhand store, I'll contact the police immediately.
Unfortunately, we can't take it in right away. It might take about half a year.
A few years ago, I came across a situation twice where a thief who had broken into an acquaintance’s property immediately sold the stolen goods to a secondhand store, and I reported it after finding the items listed for sale by the store.
Even so, the thief was not arrested.
Well, I guess as long as I get my stuff back, that's all that matters, but it's still pretty annoying, isn't it?
When I think about the effort and time it would take, I'd really rather not have to deal with it.
