Rock Drill

This is the pneumatic drilling machine I've been experimenting with recently.

 

At first glance, it looks like a typical drilling machine.

The reaction force is counteracted by the weight of the structure itself and the wires on the sides.

 

However, the best thing about this machine is how light it is.

Although it's still in the experimental stage in many ways, the total weight of this drilling machine is about 65 kg.

I had originally planned to keep it under 80 kg, but in the end, it turned out to be this light.

At this rate, even with an air motor, it might only weigh about 100 kg!?

 

It might just be the lightest drilling machine in Japan.

However, there is one drawback, though...It's way too light!

 

It's pretty easy to move along the slope.

However, when drilling, it’s so light that it can’t withstand the pressure from the machine.

And then I float lol

 

It would be great if we could secure the bottom part properly, but I guess that’s something we’ll have to work on in the future.

 

By the way, regarding drilling capacity, we’ve so far been able to drill a 4.0-meter-deep hole with a φ65 drill bit in a self-supporting rock formation.

If the rock were harder, we could probably go a little further, but it seems like 4 meters is pretty much the limit for this machine.

 

With this machine, it's easy to move it up the slope, and

What's more, as long as it's within the reach of a crab crane, we can drill using the suspended method!

It's seriously easy with something this light lol
