It's an SD card called "FlashAir" by Toshiba.
It's a camera's flash memory, but it can actually communicate wirelessly all on its own!
To put it simply, let's say you took a group photo with a regular camera (such as a compact digital camera or an SLR).
If there were 10 people there, I would normally send it by email at a later date.
But with this Flash Air, you can instantly send files from Flash Air to your phone right on the spot!
What is a "compact digital camera"? = Compact digital camera
Isn't this amazing!?
In our case, if we’re at the stage where we want to send this photo, we can just take a picture with our smartphone and send it.
But there are times when you want to send past data, right?
For example, you can send photos of the current state of the landslide via your smartphone, and photos of what it looked like before the landslide using a compact digital camera.
That way, you won't have to open your computer every time to send them.
That said, considering how often I send messages and the cost, I feel like I probably don't really need that many, but it's just for emergencies, lol.
Another feature of this SD card is its fast write speed.
Fast write speeds mean you can take another photo immediately after the previous one.
It's great for continuous shooting and perfect for video, too!
Since this FlashAir SD card is Class 10, it's one of the best SD cards available for photography.
Data transfer speed of at least 2 MB/s during reading and writing
Data transfer speed of at least 4 MB/s during reading and writing
Data transfer speed of at least 6 MB/s during reading and writing
Data transfer speed of at least 10 MB/s during read and write operations
Of course, there are higher-end models available, but these specs are more than enough for our on-site production work!
I guess it’s just the “Made in Japan” brand, lol. (Toshiba’s been going through a rough patch lately, but I’m buying their products to show my support and hope they keep up the good work!)
However, there is one problem.
Photo data sent via FLASHAir is considered to have been tampered with.Therefore,
This cannot be used for electronic submission.
There are ways to fix that, but it's a hassle, soDo not use the forwarded dataPlease do so.
While it has its pros and cons, I think it’s a perfectly usable product.
Let’s all support Japan’s manufacturers—which we should all be proud of—and take the lead in kickstarting the economic recovery!
If we do that, maybe it'll come back to us eventually? lol (Well, I don't really care about getting anything in return, though.)
Please check the class of the SD card you're using.
If you're using Class 2, it's really slow. You'll be amazed if you try Class 10, you know?
Well, to be honest, Class 4 is plenty for a compact digital camera, lol.
In my case, whenever I hear something is “fast,” I automatically think it’ll save me time, so I end up buying it!
