Never Pour Oil Down the Drain | Environmental Protection

I previously worked on a job site where oil leaks were absolutely prohibited.

Well, actually, there are quite a few, lol.

I will share how I handled the situation at that time.

Measures Against Oil

First, the bottom of the unit is covered with an oil-absorbing mat.

I also placed mats underneath all the casings and tools.

It's hard to see, but I've also placed it under the drilling machine.

Spread a blue tarp over it.

I laid the blue tarp over the section where the water flows.

 

As for the machine, I inspected the hydraulic hoses, made sure they wouldn't burst under any circumstances, replaced them, and then got on board.

It’s also important to tell the local government, “If we go this far and the hose bursts, there’s nothing we can do about it,” lol.

 

You don't need to buy an expensive oil-absorbing sheet—just make sure to choose one that doesn't absorb water.

I was careful about the drilling slurry, so I also put oil-absorbing sheets inside the flexible containers where I was putting the slurry.

Even so, any overflowing water is collected in a catch tank using a submersible pump, and oil-absorbing sheets are floated inside the catch tank as a precaution.

Of course, I made sure the generator and compressor were oil-resistant models, and I even went a step further by using oil-resistant sheeting to create a triple-layer protection system lol (I might have gone a bit overboard).

 

In the end, the hydraulic hose didn't burst and there was hardly any fluid leakage—it all worked out fine—but man, that was a real hassle lol.

You have to set up the machine before you even get on board.

It can be tough when I occasionally go to sites like this, but it’s a good experience.

Though, I think it'll cost around 200,000 to 300,000 to deal with the oil, lol.
