Reinforcement Installation Even in Tight or Quiet Spaces!

Core Drill

For the past few days, I've been teaching Vietnamese workers how to insert rebar using a core drill.

 

It's a stone masonry reinforcement project, but the stones on the surface are just so high-quality—they're incredibly hard!

Even a rock drill has a hard time cracking this granite, but that’s the power of a diamond for you.

You can cover 40 cm in about an hour!

However, the blade is quite worn.

It would be so much easier if this were concrete, though...

 

I’m sure many of you are wondering, “Can you insert rebar into a core?” but,

It's the norm in the Kanto region.

It’s done secretly, especially under train platforms like those on the JR lines, lol.

Core

The advantage of core drilling is that it saves space.

It is ideal for narrow spaces where there is only about 1 meter of clearance behind the machine, or for job sites where it is simply impossible to bring in a standard drilling machine.

However, since the number of holes that can be drilled in a day is quite limited, the unit price will inevitably be determined on a project-by-project basis.

There are all sorts of tips and tricks, but it's definitely worth a try!

 

Going forward, we expect to see an increase in construction projects in extremely confined spaces, unlike in the past.

Also, core drills are great even in areas where noise is a problem (like quiet residential neighborhoods)!

Once you try it, it’s really no big deal, but there’s a world of difference between having experience and not.

I think it would be a good idea to give it a try.

You might find that the things you notice and the things you can do suddenly expand in a big way!
