Learning from Mistakes: Comparing Yourself to Others | Reflecting on Your Growth

Hello, everyone.

This is Enta.

I started drilling the other day, but I forgot something crucial, so in the end, I could only drill about five 1.5-meter sections of casing lol.

Stunned

We set up the machinery on site properly, checked the surrounding area thoroughly, and verified both the materials and the drawings.

It was just when I was about to say, “All right!”

The extension rods are different types...

With this, the inner layer won't fit...

Come to think of it, I recently switched the brand of my swivel...

It’s been a while since I’ve handled the planning and construction, so I wasn’t paying close enough attention.

I used to remember it to some extent, but once I stop using it for a while, I forget it completely.

Even though I still remember the parts related to quantity surveying, design, and estimating, I realized for the first time that it’s actually possible to forget what it’s like on the job site.

Even though I’ve been working in the field for 20 years, just a few months away from it is enough to make me lose my touch.

My senses have become very dull.

Especially the ability to organize things on-site!

Too bad

I'll be doing rehab for a while lol

Since I’ll be handling construction management this time as well, I’ll be managing the project while drilling, keeping an eye on the overall schedule—it’s a bit like a refresher course on site management.

Well, I think it’s fine that our company operates on a division of labor, but there’s also the fear that if we lose touch with what’s actually happening on the ground, we’ll lose the ability to create something new, so I’ll keep at it for a while.

I don't mean to make excuses, but I drilled five outer holes, and since it was already 4:00 and I was able to wrap things up and head home, it actually turned out okay.

I was just so disappointed in myself for making such a silly mistake, so I'm writing this down as a reminder lol.

It's even easier to understand when you compare it to your past self, isn't it?

When I compare my former, cooler self to who I am now, am I growing??

See you later.
