Drainage Boring (Horizontal Boring) | Construction Management After a Long Break

Hello, everyone.

This is Enta.

Starting next week, I’ll be getting back into construction management—just a little bit, just a tiny bit. Haha.

The shortage of managers is getting worse at every worksite, isn't it?

First, I put the chalk and ribbon tape from the office into the car lol

It’s like, “This is my very first time on a job site!”

Since I’ve been working more as a craftsman than a construction manager lately, the stuff I carry around is definitely different, lol.
(I say "craftsman," but really, it's just single-hole drilling and moving machinery around, lol)

But even though it’s called construction management, it’s just drainage boring, so it’s not really that big of a deal, but still...

But that's beside the point.

So, today I’m going to write about what exactly “drainage drilling” is.

Drainage Boring Worker

I'm sure this might leave slope engineers scratching their heads, but this is actually part of an anchor installer's job.

To put it simply,Force the drainage of water from the mountain to ensure its stability.

This is one of the construction methods designed to prevent slippage by draining water that affects the slip layer or by reducing the moisture content of the natural ground to make it lighter.

The installation process is simple: a double-pipe system is installed using a rotary percussion drill.

Once you have drilled to the specified length, remove the inner pipe and insert the strainer pipe (VP40 or SGP40).

SGP pipe = gas pipe
VP pipe = vinyl chloride pipe

It is common practice to machine the connection points with reverse threads, and

In the case of PVC, if you use a socket connection, the PVC pipe will not fit through a φ90 double-wall pipe with a drilled hole.
(I can't insert it!)

Since the hole diameter is generally 90 mm, please be careful when connecting PVC sockets.

We can also machine reverse threads on PVC pipes.

After inserting the perforated strainer pipe, pull out the outer casing and insert the hole-retaining pipe to a depth of approximately 2 to 4 meters (depending on the design).

The treatment of the edge at the mouth varies depending on the design.

After dewatering drilling is performed, the aquifer becomes smaller or the water content decreases, as described above.

This is a drainage boring machine. (Just a simple explanation, lol.)

In addition to these, there are various other challenging tasks, such as drainage boreholes connecting collection wells, and collection and drainage boreholes that are nearly 100 meters long.

Long-distance bowling is difficult, after all, so amateurs can't do it.

Also, it’s very difficult even if the director is inexperienced.

Drilling is a craft that’s all the more profound precisely because you can’t see what’s going on beneath the surface.

It's a battle against water pressure, jamming, and something invisible lol

For long anchors or long drainage systems, it’s best to hire a professional contractor to minimize mistakes and ensure the project is completed on schedule.

It’s better to choose a contractor that inspires confidence and a sense of stability.

See you later.
