When I get out of the car, it's like, "Splash!"—it's truly hell!
I just can't get by without my air-conditioned suit anymore, lol.
And it's scorching hot again today!
Lately, two of us have been drilling holes for rock bolts and grouting them at the job site, but even though it’s only once in a while, we’re completely exhausted.
Working on-site at this time of year is really tough, isn't it?
Green tea tastes great during the hot season, doesn't it?
Cold barley tea is great too, lol
But that's beside the point.
How can I get to the site faster!?
Do you know the best way to get to the job site quickly and efficiently?
Well, it seems like a lot of people are saying you should just drive there as fast as you can.
Let's calculate that.

Assuming the distance is 100 km, take a look at the speed.
I ran some calculations for speeds ranging from 80 km/h to 180 km/h.
There's only a 15-minute difference between traveling at 80 km/h and traveling at 100 km/h.
It takes 25 minutes at speeds between 80 km/h and 120 km/h.
But this is only when you're using the highway.
There's no way I can get from the office to the job site at this speed, so,
All things considered, I think even an average speed of 60 km/h is on the fast side.
For example, let's say you saved 25 minutes by driving at 120 km/h.
On the other hand, while you’ve gained time, what have you lost?
I interpret it as a way of saying that you're buying time with money.
So what you lose is money.
By "losing money," I mean things like gas money.
If a car with a fuel economy of 15 km/L drops to 10 km/L, the cost would be 5 L × 130 yen/L = 650 yen.
That means I paid 650 yen for 25 minutes.
That works out to 1,560 yen per hour (lol)
In reality, since oil changes and other consumables will be needed more frequently, the cost will likely go up a bit more.
Even just 25 minutes leaves me feeling incredibly exhausted and unsafe. Isn't that inefficient?
I know that driving at around 120 km/h isn't really a big deal, but the level of danger does increase significantly.
At 80 km/h, you can stop fairly safely, but at 120 km/h, it’s quite difficult.
Once you go over 110 km/h, the risk increases significantly with every 10 km/h increase.
What's the point of going to all that trouble just to get there early??
That's what I think.
It goes without saying that you should go before the morning meeting, but it’s easier in many ways to leave with plenty of time to spare rather than rushing there.
This also puts your passengers at risk.
If an accident were to occur, who would be held responsible?
With that in mind, to get to the site quickly and efficiently,
I'll head to the site at a leisurely pace, traveling at around 100 km/h.
I think this is just about right.
It's neither more nor less than that.

I've been finding it really nice and easy to cruise at 115 km/h using my car's adaptive cruise control lately.
I'm thinking, "It's so much easier not to step on the gas!"
