The job site is super tough, lol.

We're doing this kind of work inside the tunnel, but—perhaps because of the bedrock—the casing tube is getting completely worn out from the bit.

This is brand new.

I've also included the bits.
This casing tube is nice because it's light, but it's thin.

As soon as you drill into bedrock, it ends up looking like this and becomes unusable.
Well, it’s not really meant to be used this way, so it’s only natural that it would break, but if I keep going like this, I’m worried it might snap inside while I’m drilling...
I really came to understand just how soft concrete is.
So, we decided to produce it in-house.

I was well aware that it wasn't meant for bedrock, but I didn't expect it to be this flimsy...
Well, for now, I'll try making it thicker. I'm also thinking of using a slightly harder material and heat-treating it to increase its hardness.
I'd like to make it strong enough to withstand a few taps with a hammer.
I imagine other companies are probably having trouble with this as well—what do you think?
Since concrete is soft, I think this tube will work fine, but with bedrock or sandstone, the outer layer will wear away quickly.
For now, the stock bits are fine, so I'm hoping to keep things as they are.
Surprisingly, once you give it a try, the core-drilling industry turns out to be quite complex and fun.
In the Kanto region, we use this equipment to install rock bolts, but I’ve noticed that M’s seems to have recently developed a machine equipped with a hammer that can drill using a double-tube system, and I’m curious about it.
Since President Sawada of M's went out of his way to call me and mentioned that they have a demo unit available, I'm thinking of looking into it. (Thanks for checking out my blog, lol.)

That said, I can’t start drilling until I figure out what to do with the casing tube, lol. If I use the demo unit’s hammer function, there’s a pretty good chance the casing tube will get crushed.
You'll probably need to use a standard bit with a chip.
Well, I don't know what will happen going forward, but for now, I'll keep things as they are and try out various ideas for a while. (I'll make the casing tube.)
However, I have a feeling that this drilling will turn up something.
Since it’s mostly hand-dug, it’s very easy to get a feel for the drilling process.
The vibrations and pressure you feel in your hands are just irresistible, aren't they?
I'm hoping that this drilling will bring something new to light.
