2019 has begun!
To everyone, I look forward to your continued support this year.
But that's beside the point.
I've been really into video games again lately.
I've always been a gamer, and I absolutely love games!
I've got pretty much all the latest game consoles, from the PS4 to the Switch and 3DS! lol
So, the game I've been really into lately is *Dragon Quest Builders 2*.
As for what genre it is,Crafting GamesThat's right lol
I got way too hooked during the New Year's break and ended up not getting enough sleep! lol
While there is a solid story, it's basically a game where you're free to do whatever you want.
If you want to create something, you can build it by combining blocks. (However, some things can't be done until you progress further in the story.)
It has a similar vibe to Minecraft, which I was really into not too long ago.
I make things using whatever parts and tools I have on hand. I put quite a bit of thought into it, and sometimes I even draw a quick sketch or two, lol.
If you like making things and playing games, you'll probably get hooked on this!!
Actually, the Minecraft mentioned above is also used in classrooms overseas. (It’s also used in private elementary schools in Japan.)
This game, where you're free to do whatever you want, is actually very difficult for people who don't think things through.
If you can do anything, that means it’s okay to do nothing.
But that wouldn't be very interesting, would it?
I take action to make things more interesting.
The same can be said about our work.
I have to do my job, but I don't have to do anything else. (Things not covered by the contract)
But is that really fun??
"If we do it this way on this job site, it'll help the general contractor and us too, so let's come up with a solution like this!"
Once I finish this project, here's what I'll do next! I'll do this!!
Doing this would be a bad idea, so let's be careful.
And so on—there are actually all sorts of things we can do on-site that go beyond what’s in the contract.
Site conditions are definitely all different, aren’t they? Yet the construction methods we use are almost the same as they were 30 years ago.
In that case, let's think of a way that's similar to what we did 30 years ago, but different.
It’s fun just to let go of the idea that “this is the only way!” and wonder, “Maybe there’s another way to do this?” isn’t it?
By approaching your work mindfully, you can imagine the following.
Something my former boss once told me was, “Imagination is key in civil engineering!」
That's exactly right. I understand that perfectly now.
If you use your imagination and put it all together, the worksite is sure to be a lot of fun!
I have fun every time. (Well, there are some annoying things, too, lol.)
