The hardest part about places like this is the roots!
It’s fine if they’re just small, thin roots, but there are some really bad ones right under the trunk.
It's a root, but it's basically a tree, right? lol
If you just keep turning it and wiggling it, it'll come out eventually, but,
Isn't it a pain to wait for something like that!?
As for the ring bit, it’s fairly sharp, so it’s not impossible to file it down.
However, when it comes to the root, even if you hit it with a hammer, it’s too soft to make any progress, and the chisel won’t bite into it, so it takes a long time.
So, let's get started on making the root-cutting bit.
Mark the old bit with a marker.
Since the tip is quite hard to cut, I used a band saw to cut it off.
After that, I'll cut it with a sander.
It looks something like this.
It may not look very sleek, but it cuts just fine like this.
It grips onto the root, grinds away at it, and shaves it off.
Some people might think, “Well, why not just avoid hitting it there in the first place?!” but,
The location is already set in the design.
The trees that were causing problems have been cut down, but the roots are still there lol
Since there are often situations where you simply can't avoid hitting a tree, it's handy to have a bit like this on hand.
