I went to a job site in Kanagawa the other day.
They’re having a hard time because the rock is so hard that they can’t drill even one well a day using standard double-pipe rigs, so,
I ended up having to bring the down-the-hole hammer at the last minute.
First thing in the morning, I switched to the down-the-hole hammer and drilled the remaining three holes in no time, then moved on to demolition lol
A down-the-hole hammer is the best when the rock is hard.
Especially when fighting lighter-weight opponents, there are inevitably times when I don't land enough punches.
When I say this, some people insist that double-pipe drilling is absolutely necessary.
The reason for using a double-pipe borehole design is that the surrounding rock is unstable and cannot support itself on its own, right?
So in such cases, first drill a hole using a down-the-hole hammer, and
Once you put the outer casing on, it's the same thing lol
That said, in the case of our down-the-hole hammer, it’s made to the same diameter as the outer casing, so
Surprisingly, the natural ground is compact enough that it stands on its own.
Even if you pull out the down-the-hole hammer, the rebar still slides right in, though ^^
