The other day, we performed a non-destructive inspection using an ingenious method developed by the rebar insertion crew who poured the concrete at our site.
As a first-tier subcontractor, I want to contribute even a little to the prime contractor’s score, so I’m doing non-destructive testing lol
Well, since I've never done it either, and since someone said they wanted to try it and that a certain person had one, I borrowed it.

Normally, this type of non-destructive testing costs quite a bit of money!
It's probably in the hundreds of thousands per test.
Well, the equipment is pretty expensive, so I guess that’s just the way it is.
I guess the point of this ingenuity is to verify the accuracy of the construction and improve the precision of the finished product, right?
After drilling, the drill hole length was measured as part of the as-built inspection, and the as-built dimensions were found to be acceptable.
But are the specified reinforcing bars actually inside?
It's proof that it hasn't been cut.
Since we haven’t performed any improper work, such as cutting, there wouldn’t be any issues even if it were inspected, but we did this to improve the precision of the finished product.
I was thinking, "It'd be great if this could lead to more points," lol.
Since this was my first time using this measuring device, it was quite difficult, but,
Once I got the hang of it, taking the measurements was easy.

Since the rebar at this site was 4 meters long, the results are generally good.
It seems that if there are any defects in the rebar itself, the ultrasound picks up on them too, so some strange numbers (noise?) show up, but overall, it looks good.
Well, I'm not a non-destructive testing technician, but the machine gives me accurate readings.
Machines don't lie, so just believe it lol
I also took some video, but since this site isn't finished yet, I'll post it sometime lol.
I hope we can continue to apply our creativity and ingenuity to projects like this at our construction sites in the future.
I hope to continue improving the accuracy of our workmanship, the quality of our work, and the precision of the finished product, even if only slightly.
