Are things getting pretty busy at your workplaces too?
Things are starting to get busy at our site, so I'm thinking of working an extra hour for a while.
This one hour of overtime per day is extremely effective at this time of year.
Based on a simple calculation, if you work one hour of overtime, there are six days from Monday through Saturday.
6 days × 1 hour = 6 hours
6 hours × 4 weeks = 24 hours
This amount of time accounts for about 10 percent of the total monthly working hours.
So, if possible, it would make sense to encourage overtime early on during this period, considering the need for a buffer in the construction schedule, right?
I think there are some construction crews at certain contractors who might be reluctant to do this.
The reason for this is obvious, but,Because I don't get paid for overtime,That's right.
In our case, since we pay overtime, they’re willing to work overtime lol (I’m really grateful!)
If the total amount of work completed in a single day varies by as much as 10 percent, the volume of work will change, and since the project will be completed sooner, we’ll save on expenses.
As a result, the company also makes a profit.
That's why paying overtime ends up being cheaper (when you compare the two).
There’s quite a difference in how you plan your work and how you feel, isn’t there, between working for an hour right away on a task that’s come up and working on it for an hour on a different day?
If we keep wrapping up projects one after another during this period, the company will make more money and employees will get raises. The general contractor should be happy too, since it’ll shorten the construction schedule! (Once the project is finished, they’ll be able to use the agent’s name again to win new contracts.)
Shortening the construction schedule has nothing but benefits!
However, overtime is limited to a maximum of 2 hours per day!
The physical strain becomes absolutely overwhelming.
What's more, if you work two hours of overtime for just one week, your productivity will drop the following week! It will definitely drop!
That’s why working two hours of overtime is only feasible for about a week during the final push. Any more than that, and accidents will happen!!
Also, I’ll limit my search to places where overtime is no more than one hour and the commute to the workplace is about one hour.
If we go any further than this, work efficiency (productivity) will drop again, so at hard-working sites, the rule is: a commute of one hour or less and one hour of overtime!
And payment of overtime wages is mandatory.
It’s becoming a challenging time, but I think there are many construction sites working hard to get things done before the snow arrives.
