This time, I\u2019d like to write for technical trainees and foreign workers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Japan Becoming Dependent on Foreign Labor<\/h3>\n

In today\u2019s Japan, under the government policy of Work Style Reform<\/em>, many companies have adopted a complete two-day weekend<\/strong> system.
Especially for contractors engaged in public works<\/strong>, the two-day weekend<\/em> system is already nearly universal.<\/p>\n

However, in 2021<\/strong>, the government announced a goal<\/strong> of shifting to a three-day weekend<\/strong>.
Of course, it\u2019s just a target\u2014but if that really happened, the economy probably wouldn\u2019t function properly.<\/p>\n

\n

The Labor Shortage and Foreign Workers<\/h3>\n

Right now, Japan is suffering from a labor shortage and is rapidly accepting more foreign workers<\/strong>.
So, what will happen to Japan in the future?
And what do technical trainees<\/em> and foreign workers<\/em> think about it?<\/p>\n

The Future I See<\/h3>\n

I believe that in the near future, 99% of construction work<\/strong> will be carried out by technical trainees<\/em> and foreign skilled workers<\/em>.
That future is certain, because the number of Japanese workers is steadily decreasing.<\/p>\n

For the time being, sites will still be supervised by Japanese people\u2014but within the next ten years, this will change drastically.<\/p>\n

\n

Equal Opportunity for Skilled Workers<\/h3>\n

Those who can do their job well will be employed under the same conditions as Japanese workers<\/strong>.
Basically, the employment system today is already similar for both.
Some companies still discriminate, but such companies will eventually be eliminated.
If you see such injustice\u2014report it boldly!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

The New Blue-Collar Japan<\/h3>\n

In fields like civil engineering and construction<\/strong>, where we work, Japanese youth<\/strong> are increasingly reluctant to participate.
In a sense, this is a big opportunity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Without technical trainees<\/em> and foreign skilled workers<\/em>, construction projects couldn\u2019t even proceed.
Even in my own company, without foreign workers, we wouldn\u2019t be able to handle many sites.<\/p>\n

If you learn your job properly and work with the same standards as Japanese workers, you can be hired anywhere<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

However, there are conditions:<\/p>\n

    Japanese language level N3 or higher<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Driver\u2019s license<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    If you also have good communication<\/strong> and management skills<\/strong>, you have the chance to even lead Japanese workers<\/em>.<\/p>\n

    \n

    The Perspective of Employers<\/h3>\n

    For business owners like me, if a Japanese worker cannot perform well, I would rather hire capable foreign workers<\/strong>.
    Many construction company owners in Japan are beginning to think this way.<\/p>\n

    \n

    \"Waktu\"<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Time Decides Everything<\/h3>\n

    However, Work Style Reform<\/em> may actually make Japanese workers weaker (and foreigners too).<\/p>\n

    Let\u2019s imagine this:<\/p>\n

    • \n

      A-san works three days off per week<\/strong>, earns \u00a5300,000 per month<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      B-san works two days off per week<\/strong>, earns \u00a5300,000 per month<\/strong>
      (Both are 35-year-old men with the same skill level.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Most people would choose A-san\u2019s schedule, right?
      In fact, many Japanese people are already choosing this.
      And to be honest, many Asian men would also choose A-san\u2019s lifestyle! 😄<\/p>\n

      \n

      But what happens when both A and B turn 40?<\/p>\n

      A-san will end up becoming B-san\u2019s subordinate<\/strong>.
      Just one extra day off per week, four days per month\u2014and that gap can never<\/em> be closed.<\/p>\n

      \n

      🧮 Calculation Example<\/h3>\n

      1 day = 8 working hours<\/strong>
      1 year = 52 weeks<\/strong>
      5 years = 260 weeks<\/strong><\/p>\n

      A (3-day weekend)<\/strong> \u2192 4 days \u00d7 8h \u00d7 260 weeks = 8,320h<\/strong>
      B (2-day weekend)<\/strong> \u2192 5 days \u00d7 8h \u00d7 260 weeks = 10,400h<\/strong>
      Difference:<\/strong> 10,400 \u2212 8,320 = 2,080h<\/strong><\/p>\n

      In 5 years, A-san works 2,080 hours (260 days)<\/strong> less than B-san.<\/p>\n

      \n

      A-san\u2019s life sounds great, right?
      But\u2026 that\u2019s all for today.<\/p>\n
