There are times when you end up going back home or staying overnight unexpectedly around this time of year, right?<\/p>\n
While you might have some plans when visiting your hometown, there\u2019s also a chance you might end up staying overnight due to some unforeseen circumstances.<\/p>\n

However, it\u2019s often quite difficult to arrange such a last-minute stay.<\/p>\n
That's because accommodations are often fully booked.<\/p>\n
So, what should you do in that situation?<\/p>\n

These days, most people probably just do a Google search and look at whatever booking information they can find.<\/p>\n
However, most of the same-day reservation information is either fully booked or not listed at all.<\/p>\n
And there are almost no low-priced options.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
To begin with, from the hotel\u2019s perspective, the prices listed online are simply figures intended to attract customers.<\/p>\n
Not all rooms are priced that way.<\/p>\n
And one more thing. While the number of rooms available at that price varies by hotel, the total number is fixed.<\/p>\n
For example, Hotel A has five rooms that cost 4,500 yen per night.<\/p>\n
Hotel B has two rooms that cost 4,000 yen per night.<\/p>\n
There are differences like these, among others.<\/p>\n
In other words, these prices are strictly intended to attract customers.<\/p>\n
For last-minute stays, please check the regular rates.<\/p>\n

And there's only one way to book that hotel!<\/p>\n
I'm going to make a ton of phone calls!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n This is the only way to go.<\/p>\n Instead of searching online, I look up nearby hotels online and call them.<\/p>\n So, right off the bat, ask them straight out, \u201cThis might be a bit sudden, but do you have a room available for X people today?\u201d<\/p>\n If it's not available, they'll say, \"We're fully booked today,\" so I'll just say, \"Thank you,\" and hang up right away.<\/p>\n If it looks like they can accommodate you, they'll say something like, \"We have X twin rooms and X single rooms available\u2014all of them are smoking rooms.\"<\/p>\n It's better for the other person, too\u2014it gets things done faster than rambling on and on.<\/p>\n If it's late in the day, there might be cancellations, so you might be able to go.<\/p>\n Since there are some difficult guests early in the morning, the hotel's response can be a bit awkward.<\/p>\n High-end hotels often won't let you in. It's a whole different level of luxury! lol<\/p>\n If it's a local business, there's a good chance they'll let you in.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In my case, I often end up staying somewhere on the spur of the moment, but I usually find a place after making just five calls!<\/p>\n There have been almost no times when I couldn't find a place to stay.<\/p>\n I remember a time when I was staying in Sapporo; the hotels were completely booked over the weekend, so I reluctantly ended up paying 15,000 yen for one night.
