This typhoon is getting absolutely out of control.<\/p>\n
It looks like the wind is really strong.<\/p>\n
Here in Hokkaido, it's business as usual.<\/p>\n
Is Hokkaido resilient to disasters??<\/p>\n
But that's beside the point.<\/p>\n

When it comes to construction, the contractors often think, \u201cIf we did it this way, the quality would improve,\u201d or \u201cIf we did it that way, we could shorten the construction schedule.\u201d<\/p>\n
It says that, but the basic rule is that we don't adopt any of that at all.<\/p>\n
That's because, in design consulting, this is what the site looks like. Let's design it using this, that, and the other thing.<\/p>\n
So, for now, we'll come up with about four construction methods, and ultimately decide on the least expensive one.<\/p>\n
Generally, we go with the cheaper option after comparing costs, but since the construction method is basically already decided, it\u2019s a done deal, lol.<\/p>\n
Generally speaking, these are typical construction methods, such as frame construction combined with rock bolting or anchor installation.<\/p>\n
However, whenever other proprietary construction methods are involved, the design departments or sales teams at the major firms are pulling the strings behind the scenes (lol).<\/p>\n
Occasionally, there are special construction methods that surprise me when I get involved in the design process, but,<\/p>\n
In cases like that, it\u2019s either a construction method favored by the government official in charge or one favored by the construction consultant.<\/p>\n
Other than that, the shadows are always moving lol<\/p>\n
In that case, since we\u2014as general contractors\u2014can\u2019t purchase the materials even if we\u2019re able to do the work, we\u2019ll have to back out.<\/p>\n
Well, that makes sense since I don't have the rights, lol.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not necessarily true that the construction method specified in the design is the best one.<\/p>\n
If the goal is to shorten the construction period, it would be better to use anchor work combined with pressure plates rather than using anchor work alone for the retaining wall.<\/p>\n
In terms of workability, even among load-bearing plates, steel load-bearing plates are preferable to prestressed concrete (PC) load-bearing plates.<\/p>\n
Even among frame sizes, the \u25a1300 offers better workability and value for money than the \u25a1200.<\/p>\n

Design consultants are just doing their jobs. So there\u2019s no problem with the design itself.<\/p>\n
I mean, it\u2019s obviously weird, right? Not that I\u2019m saying anything, lol.<\/p>\n
It is also part of our job as contractors to adapt the plans so that we can carry out the work efficiently and in a way that maximizes our profits.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, there are construction supervisors who carry out the work exactly as specified in the plans, but,<\/p>\n
That's fine in its own way, but as a construction manager, it's not quite up to par.<\/p>\n
The reason it's not quite up to par is that even if it's difficult to install, they go ahead and install it anyway\u2014they make sure it gets installed.<\/p>\n
Making design changes requires a certain amount of experience, wisdom, and technical skill.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>That's it.<\/p>\n So that's why there's not much of it, huh? lol<\/p>\n A competent supervisor will make adjustments to ensure the work is easy to carry out and that the project is profitable.<\/p>\n He\u2019s the kind of director who can pull that off. Directors who just go along with whatever the government tells them and say things like, \u201cYeah, you\u2019re right\u2026\u201d just won\u2019t cut it, lol.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Gain a solid understanding of the basic design provided by the design consultant, and This is how a worksite should truly be.<\/p>\n Complaining about the design won't get us anywhere.
