This is Enta.<\/p>\n

Today I was working as a rebar installer in Tokyo.<\/p>\n

But the rain on my way home that afternoon was absolutely terrible!<\/p>\n

And they say it's going to be really stormy tonight...<\/p>\n

This is what happens when I go out to a job site for the first time in a while.<\/p>\n

Yes.<\/p>\n

I'm a real rain magnet!<\/p>\n

But that's beside the point.<\/p>\n

Why do you conduct material inspections?<\/p>\n

As a craftsman, you probably wonder why I\u2019m taking so many pictures of the materials, don\u2019t you?<\/p>\n

Like, \"Let me use the ingredients already!\" (lol)<\/p>\n

From the director's perspective, it's just a hassle!<\/p>\n

Ugh\u2014what a hassle!<\/p>\n

That's kind of how it is, isn't it? Especially when there are a lot of different ingredients.<\/p>\n

The more types of work there are, the more...<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There was a time when I, too, was sick and tired of taking the same photo over and over again.<\/p>\n

However, inspecting materials upon receipt is extremely important.<\/p>\n

Although craftsmen don\u2019t often see these documents, the first one is the construction plan.<\/p>\n

The construction plan includes material planning, scheduling, as-built management, quality control, safety management, and recycling planning<\/p>\n

And so on.<\/p>\n

The materials used in that process are from a specific manufacturer and meet the \u3007\u3007 standard, and they are used to make \u3007\u3007.<\/p>\n

That's the general idea\u2014we specify it to some extent in advance.<\/p>\n

\"Material<\/p>\n

So, based on that, the purpose of inspecting materials on-site is to verify that the project is being carried out using the materials specified in the plan.<\/p>\n

If, for some reason, that material is not available, we will revise the construction plan and seek approval for the changes.<\/p>\n

In particular, ground anchor work for critical structures is absolutely essential.<\/p>\n

While there are no issues with rebar mesh or formwork frames from any manufacturer, compliance with JIS standards is fundamentally important.<\/p>\n

This means there's no particular problem as long as the product has a clear source.<\/p>\n

These product specifications are also quite complicated\u2014which steel rolls to use, which steel wire to use,<\/p>\n

It's a lot of work\u2014figuring out how to apply XX grams of plating and so on.<\/p>\n

You can verify this by checking the manufacturer's quality certificate (commonly known as a mill sheet), and<\/p>\n

We will verify this using a shipping certificate that proves the product was shipped.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s surprising how materials that seem so simple to use on site actually go through quite a lot before they get there (lol).<\/p>\n

And when taking photos of specific subjects, I make sure to capture the parts that won\u2019t be visible in the final image.<\/p>\n

That's the part that's not visible, isn't it?<\/p>\n

In particular, with rebar insertion work, the rebar becomes invisible after installation.<\/p>\n

You can see about 10 centimeters of the head, but you can't see anything else, right?<\/p>\n

The most important part of material inspection is to take clear photos of the shape before it becomes invisible.<\/p>\n

Please have the craftsmen wait until the material inspection is complete\u2014as long as the supervisor isn't slacking off.<\/p>\n

It's really tough for the people who handle material inspections, too.<\/p>\n

It's the supervisor's job to ensure consistency in the craftsmen's work, after all!<\/p>\n
