It was the height of summer in the Ogasawara Islands the other day.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But that's beside the point.<\/p>\n
This is about how to turn insights gained while providing support at another company\u2019s worksite into improvements for your own company.<\/p>\n
Occasionally, I go to other companies' job sites to lend a hand.<\/p>\n
When I was just starting out, every time I visited a senior colleague\u2019s worksite, I was reminded just how naive our approach was.<\/p>\n
\"This one lasts longer than that grease.\"<\/p>\n
\"This part is damaged, so fix it when you get home.\"<\/p>\n
It\u2019s the kind of thing people just say, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n
There are many things you\u2019d never realize if you just stayed at your own company\u2019s worksite.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s because we do things this way at our company every day, so it\u2019s become \u201cthe norm.\u201d<\/p>\n
It\u2019s only when you visit other companies\u2019 worksites and compare them that you begin to see your own company\u2019s quirks.<\/p>\n
For example, here are some places that are fun to check out when you're cheering on your favorite team:<\/p>\n
However, there's a catch here.<\/p>\n
About two or three days after I get back from cheering, I\u2019ve already forgotten most of what I saw, lol.<\/p>\n
Since it\u2019s only in the mind of the person who noticed it, nothing\u2019s going to change for the company lol<\/p>\n
It's the forgetting curve, lol.<\/p>\n

So, how can we bring about improvements in the company?<\/p>\n
It\u2019s about \u201ccapturing your insights on paper or in photos and creating a space to make decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n
A small slope-construction company like ours simply can't take on such a huge undertaking, and it wouldn't be sustainable anyway.<\/p>\n
Even so, I believe the process of \u201ckeeping,\u201d \u201creviewing,\u201d and \u201crecycling\u201d can also be applied to improving technology.<\/p>\n
What follows is just my suggestion.<\/p>\n
The key is to implement it quickly.<\/p>\n
If we just go ahead and build it before anyone can say a word, it'll be ready for practical use right away.<\/p>\n
If it's a good product, it will catch on.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s kind of a perk of being a small company\u2014our agility really makes a difference.<\/p>\n
When it comes to grease, something like, \u201cThe team I root for uses this grease. I hear it lasts a long time, so I\u2019m going to buy some right away!\u201d is plenty.<\/p>\n
We'll try it on one machine, and if it works well, we'll roll it out to all the machines.<\/p>\n
If it doesn't work, I'll put it back.<\/p>\n
Just this alone will transform these insights into a company asset.<\/p>\n

When it comes to teaching, there\u2019s a quote often attributed to Einstein that goes...<\/p>\n
\"Teaching should be something that makes the student feel that what we offer is not a burdensome obligation, but a precious gift.\"<\/strong><\/p>\n A sentence along these lines is often cited.<\/p>\n Meaning: It expresses the essence of education: that, for learners, acquiring knowledge and instruction should not be a painful obligation, but rather should be conveyed as a source of joy and value\u2014a gift\u2014that enriches the heart.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n It\u2019s not part of our job to have our senior colleagues come by to cheer us on and teach our craftsmen various things.<\/p>\n It's purely out of goodwill.<\/p>\n In that case, it would be a waste to keep the items we received within our own company.<\/p>\n Now it\u2019s our craftsmen\u2019s turn to teach the young workers and technical interns.<\/p>\n We take what we\u2019ve learned, shape it into our company\u2019s own way of doing things, and pass it on to the next generation.<\/p>\n I think that's the best way to repay them.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And there's one thing I'm careful about.<\/p>\n Don't simply copy what other companies do.<\/p>\n Machine models, the number of employees, specifications, and areas of expertise vary from company to company.<\/p>\n Even if a method worked well at the company you were supporting, if you don\u2019t adjust it to fit the scale of your own company, it can actually make it harder for the front-line operations to run smoothly.<\/p>\n So, we\u2019ll tailor it to our company\u2019s needs, put some real thought into it, and refine it further.<\/p>\n To be honest, I don't think it's a bad thing to make a fool of yourself on another company's job site.<\/p>\n The more embarrassment I went through, the more I realized what our weaknesses were.<\/p>\n The problem is leaving obvious weaknesses unaddressed.<\/p>\n Learning begins when a company\u2014or an individual\u2014acknowledges what it or they cannot do.<\/p>\n Whether it\u2019s a single note, a photo, or even just three minutes during the morning meeting, share the insights you\u2019ve brought back with your colleagues.<\/p>\n It would be great if I could keep building on that little by little and someday catch up to my seniors.<\/p>\n When that time comes, I hope my seniors will be there to support me warmly lol<\/p>\n <\/p>\n See you later.<\/p>\n I Hate Salespeople Like This lol | Honest Thoughts from the Field<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n![\"Einstein\"](\"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/93f1db19db6bbdb6e14b36b7bf77559f.jpg\")
