Not at all.<\/p>\n<p>It's still freaking hot...<\/p>\n<p>In about a month, the weather will be just right!<\/p>\n<p>Let's wait a little longer.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>But that's beside the point.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m writing this for young engineers to address the question: \u201cCan backfill material be considered part of the natural ground?\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>What exactly is the concept behind \u201ctreating it as a natural mountain\u201d?<\/h2>\n<p>In slope construction, it is common to level out irregularities on the natural ground using mortar or soil before installing structures.<\/p>\n<p>At this point, the leveled area is \u201cartificially added material, not the original natural ground,\u201d right?<\/p>\n<p>One point that people with little experience often get hung up on here is, \u201cSo how is that part handled in the design?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The answer is, if the conditions are met,<strong>It may be treated as the same as the natural ground.<\/strong>There is a school of thought that says...<\/p>\n<p>This is what the phrase \u201cregard it as Earth\u201d means.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, even if a material was added later, as long as it meets certain conditions, it can be treated the same as the original soil that was there from the beginning.<\/p>\n<p>That's a \"fill\" kind of approach, isn't it?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-66790\" src=\"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/46fc0a07c57454d49dfe0d5854fb7888.jpg\" alt=\"Cross-sectional View of Backfill Material and Natural Ground\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>The key factors to consider are \u201cstrength\u201d and \u201cquality.\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>So, what conditions must be met for a site to be considered natural ground?
