It seems we\u2019ve made it past those really cold days\u2014today feels a little warmer than it did the other day.<\/p>\n
The other day, I went to a job site and unloaded a 3-metric-ton machine on a slope with the steepest incline I\u2019ve ever seen lol.<\/p>\n
First of all, people can't walk on the scaffolding!<\/p>\n
I think this is probably the kind of thing we'd normally turn down.<\/p>\n
Based on our past experience and track record, we are able to navigate this slope.<\/p>\n
It's a place I'd rather avoid if possible, lol. But that would cause problems for the general contractor, so I'll do my best!<\/p>\n
It's so scary that it's actually a wonder we haven't had an accident yet, lol.<\/p>\n

The slope was about 38 to 40 degrees, lol.<\/p>\n
When I looked at it from the front, it looked just like a wall\u2014it made me laugh lol<\/p>\n
Our employees seemed speechless at first...<\/p>\n
That said, even though they might grumble a bit, they\u2019ll still find a way to get the job done safely.<\/p>\n
In the end, it took us a whole day to lower the 3-metric-ton drilling rig.<\/p>\n
At first, I thought the friction from the scaffolding would prevent the machine from sliding down too much, but,<\/p>\n
Thanks to the cold snap a couple of days ago, the ground is slippery.<\/p>\n

Since the friction between the machine and the scaffolding boards was quite high, we lowered it slowly while applying tension using a chill hoist and a lever block.<\/p>\n
And this site is a super urgent project\u2014there\u2019s absolutely no time to spare, lol.<\/p>\n
I've been working overtime until 9:00 p.m. for the past few days.<\/p>\n
However, it was very cold at the site, with temperatures dropping below minus 5 degrees.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n
While retrieving the inner casing, the 2-inch suction hose used for discharging cuttings from the swivel froze.<\/p>\n
2 inches freezes in about 5 minutes...!!<\/p>\n
That's about it. The other water lines were all filled with antifreeze, so there were no problems, but,<\/p>\n
The section from the mechanical water supply line to the swivel has frozen.<\/p>\n

All sorts of things happen on site.<\/p>\n
Apparently, the overhauled MG-10 pump that was originally installed at this site isn't working either, for some reason...<\/p>\n
And then we\u2019d rush to the site with the pump at the last minute.<\/p>\n
When something happens, stay calm and consider the following:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n How can I make this work!?<\/p>\n Based on our experience and track record, it is our job as subcontractors to do our best to ensure that operations run smoothly on-site.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>That's right.<\/p>\n There are plenty of creative solutions on-site that aren't in the design documents.<\/p>\n I want to make the most of that.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n It's Sunday today, but things are still happening on-site.
