This post is also about Nepal.<\/p>\n

My Experience Going to a Job Interview for a Technical Intern (Part 1)<\/a><\/p>\n

Do you know what the average monthly income is in Nepal?<\/p>\n

Average Monthly Income<\/h3>\n

It costs around 20,000 yen.<\/p>\n

\"Nepal\"<\/p>\n

I actually get this quite often.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Generally speaking, the average monthly income for young people who come to Japan as technical interns is around 3,000 yen.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve heard that there are still some tribal communities living in the mountains in rural areas where people have no monthly income and rely on barter.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ideally, I\u2019d like to visit those kids\u2019 homes and have a drink and a chat with their parents, but,<\/p>\n

That's actually quite difficult.<\/p>\n

That's because it's just too far away.<\/p>\n

\"Death<\/p>\n

It would be great if there were flights to that area, but basically there aren't any lol<\/p>\n

You'll be traveling by bus for several hours (more than 5 hours) through an area known as the \"Death Road,\" which is incredibly dangerous.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Personally, I really want to go!!<\/p>\n

But I don't have time...<\/p>\n

You'll need to set aside time for the interview, at the very least, and four additional days.<\/p>\n

Well, I guess it'll take about 7 to 10 days, including travel time, lol.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

From our perspective as slope engineers, it\u2019s definitely an area we\u2019d love to visit\u2014it\u2019s nothing but slopes, after all, lol.<\/p>\n

I do plan to go at least once sometime ^^<\/p>\n

\"Nepal\"<\/p>\n

The Wealth Gap<\/h3>\n

In the capital, Kathmandu, the cost of living is high, and ordinary Nepalese people live in quite poor conditions.<\/p>\n

Rent<\/strong><\/p>\n

8,000 yen and up \u00b7 Shower available \u00b7 Hot water available<\/p>\n

5,000 yen or more \u00b7 Shower available \u00b7 Water works<\/p>\n

3,000 yen or more No shower No toilet<\/p>\n

It seems to be something like this.<\/p>\n

The standard price is around 3,000 yen.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, land prices in the capital, Kathmandu, are high; even a small plot easily costs over 7 million, and<\/p>\n

It seems that building a house typically costs around 50 million yen (including the land).<\/p>\n

I think this really drives home just how incredibly wide the gap between the rich and the poor is.<\/p>\n

\"Nan\"<\/p>\n

If you eat naan at a local diner in Nepal, it costs about 20 yen, so you can have a meal for around 200 yen.<\/p>\n

A 1-liter bottle of mineral water costs about 30 yen.<\/p>\n

A hero, in a sense<\/h3>\n

Nepalese people who come to Japan as technical interns are practically treated as village heroes from the moment they\u2019re selected.<\/p>\n

Especially kids who are going to Japan, South Korea, China, and Malaysia.<\/p>\n

Among them, Japan seems to be particularly proud of this.<\/p>\n

\"Nepal\"<\/p>\n

The other day, some of the new hires were from a security company in Dubai.<\/p>\n

However, it seems that Japan is actually ranked higher than that.<\/p>\n

There's a reason for this: Japan is particularly generous and offers high salaries.<\/p>\n

That's apparently the reason.<\/p>\n

So, apparently, going from our village to Japan for a technical internship is a huge deal, and my parents are over the moon!<\/p>\n

I'm doing my best to save up money for Japanese language school.<\/p>\n

That said, it\u2019s not that much, but from their perspective\u2014since they trade goods for goods\u2014it\u2019s an outrageous amount of money.<\/p>\n

I think it's safe to say that it's extremely rare for people to pay brokers millions or take out loans for that purpose.<\/p>\n

Trainees in Dubai<\/h3>\n

The average monthly income for young people going to Dubai for technical training ranges from 70,000 to, at most, around 100,000!<\/p>\n

I hear it's pretty good in Dubai, too.<\/p>\n

My image of Dubai is...<\/p>\n

In the end, that\u2019s just the gap between the rich and the poor, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n

The people of the heavenly realm are an incredible family.<\/p>\n

Having over 100 million is considered normal, and apparently that amount doesn't even make you rich...<\/p>\n

It's an amazing world, isn't it?<\/p>\n

However, while the minimum monthly salary for people actually working in the field is 250,000 yen or more, Nepalese trainees earn around 100,000 yen.<\/p>\n

In Japan, it's on par with Japanese people!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Nepal itself is a country of migrant workers.<\/p>\n

Basically, you go to another country to work!<\/p>\n

And then use the foreign currency for the family.<\/p>\n

This is the basics.<\/p>\n

Guys, in particular, are living under immense pressure!<\/p>\n

It\u2019s at a level where you\u2019d wonder, \u201cDon\u2019t Japanese guys face this kind of pressure anymore?\u201d<\/p>\n
