(And since they aren't even on-site, does that mean a web conference every time?)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Cost of Acquiring ICT\/Digital Skills<\/h4>\n<p>I have to learn how to use all kinds of tools, such as those for document and data processing, electronic submission, and 3D modeling.<\/p>\n<p>The costs of implementing tools and providing training are also significant.<\/p>\n<p>Systems vary considerably from company to company.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>While the scope of responsibility is broad, there is a possibility that authority and compensation may not keep pace.<\/h4>\n<p>While the responsibility for document errors, missed deadlines, and incomplete data is significant, the workload only increases in workplaces where \u201cdecision-making authority,\u201d \u201ccompensation,\u201d and \u201cevaluation\u201d aren\u2019t adequately established.<\/p>\n<p>When I think about it, the site manager really has a lot of responsibility, lol.<\/p>\n<p>Even if the construction director makes a mistake, it gets blamed on the site representative!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Conflicts with the Field \/ Communication Friction<\/h4>\n<p>I\u2019m sure you hear things like, \u201cDon\u2019t butt in on that,\u201d or \u201cYou don\u2019t know what it\u2019s like on the job,\u201d from engineers and craftsmen quite often, don\u2019t you?<\/p>\n<p>Especially when I'm drawing blueprints or doing design work (do I actually do the design part too??)<\/p>\n<p>It seems like there would be friction, especially with a director who has little on-set experience...<\/p>\n<p>I suppose there\u2019s a need to check out the actual site and get a feel for the atmosphere, right?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s pretty tough when your work is limited to just basic paperwork or just checking the quality of the finished product, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-55165\" src=\"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/01268656b465056d2a5f1c57b9c432ae.jpg\" alt=\"Mask\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/01268656b465056d2a5f1c57b9c432ae.jpg 500w, https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/01268656b465056d2a5f1c57b9c432ae-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/01268656b465056d2a5f1c57b9c432ae-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/01268656b465056d2a5f1c57b9c432ae-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>The Need for Tools and Infrastructure<\/h4>\n<p>This system is difficult to implement in organizations that lack ICT or data management systems, have outdated systems, or have inconsistent formats across different work sites.<\/p>\n<p>Maintenance takes time and money.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Is this what you had in mind?<\/p>\n<p>And there's also something called the Construction Directors Association\u2014is it run by an IT company?<\/p>\n<p>I was under the impression that a major general contractor or something like that was leading the project, but it seems to be run by a completely different company\u2014one run by amateurs, perhaps?<\/p>\n<p>What do you think of this, though?<\/p>\n<p>I can't help but wonder, \"Is this just another one of those government-affiliated agencies running a certification business?\"<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To get right to the point, it\u2019s really tough to teach people about the field when you don\u2019t know anything about it yourself, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n<p>When you think about it, it seems more efficient to give a raise to a capable office worker and have them handle it, doesn't it?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-55571\" src=\"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/edbd7bb9b40afe1b5e0ca260dab86a42-1.jpg\" alt=\"Construction Director\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To begin with, with recent construction CALS-compliant systems, once you take as-built photos, the as-built control chart is automatically generated\u2014so what\u2019s left for us to do?<\/p>\n<p>Is that how it works?<\/p>\n<p>Maybe redrawing the blueprints?<\/p>\n<p>Is that something an agent or representative can instruct someone to do?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As I think about all sorts of things, I end up wondering, \"Just how far can I really go?\"<\/p>\n<p>That's what I end up thinking. I'm full of questions, lol.<\/p>\n<p>In that case, should we drag out a retired site agent?
