We often talk about this on the job, don't we?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And this has a significant impact on whether young employees will grow or leave the company.<\/p>\n
I think an environment where young employees can grow is one where they\u2019re free to make mistakes.<\/p>\n

I made a lot of mistakes when I was young.<\/p>\n
My former boss, who's retiring next spring, really helped me out a lot lol (at least that's what I think lol)<\/p>\n
Thanks to that, I was able to grow up freely\u2014or so I think\u2014and that\u2019s how I\u2019ve come to where I am today.<\/p>\n

Back then, I was interested in all sorts of things, so I really dove into studying both CAD and Excel.<\/p>\n
That was also because the company provided an environment that allowed for it.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
How are things at your company?<\/p>\n
What about your seniors and supervisors?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The other day, I was talking with a young employee at a major company.<\/p>\n
I listened to that person talk about their job and complain about their boss for about 30 minutes lol (3:7)<\/p>\n

After all, my boss is always looking up the chain of command, so I end up having to take all the blame, lol.<\/p>\n
On top of that, they expect me to fully understand and report on construction work I\u2019ve never done before, and say that everything is my responsibility...<\/p>\n
I review and edit everything from documents submitted to government agencies to reports for the company, but the writing is so vague because it\u2019s written in a way that\u2019s overly deferential to higher-ups that the message doesn\u2019t come across clearly.<\/p>\n
And all the responsibility falls on the young employees.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Because of that, he\u2019s saying, \u201cI want to quit already. This is seriously making me depressed!\u201d<\/p>\n
When I heard the story, I really felt sorry for them...<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I think this young person needs the freedom to think and act independently in order to grow.<\/p>\n
That's strictly within the context of company rules.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
A boss who's willing to put up with that!<\/p>\n
That\u2019s just how it is for people our age, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n
What do you think of a boss who only looks up and never looks down?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Our job as subcontractors is to provide construction expertise to our clients\u2014both the general contractor and the government agency\u2014and to ensure their satisfaction.<\/p>\n
And through that, training young employees is also part of my job.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And what's even more important is that they enjoy their work and do it with enthusiasm.<\/p>\n
I think it\u2019s important for people to find slopes interesting and realize just how deep the field of civil engineering really is.<\/p>\n
Work is something you do for the rest of your life.<\/p>\n
So I hope you\u2019ll have even more fun and keep pushing your skills to even greater heights.<\/p>\n
I just don't want to see it destroyed just so some boring big-company executive can climb the corporate ladder.<\/p>\n

Well, since I'm a salaryman, getting promoted is part of the job.<\/p>\n
I am fully aware that this is both the real appeal and the measure of its value.<\/p>\n
However, I believe that what we engineers are truly seeking lies beyond technology itself.<\/p>\n
Beyond Construction Management! Management That Goes Even Further.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
It is unacceptable to trample on young people just to get ahead!<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Even today, it\u2019s not uncommon for high-ranking executives at major companies to find themselves with no one to rely on after they\u2019ve climbed the corporate ladder, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n
I'm the only one getting promoted, and none of my juniors are following in my footsteps lol (Are there any yes-men around?)<\/p>\n
There's a rumor going around that \"not even grass grows\" after someone who became the branch manager of a well-known company passes through there, lol.<\/p>\n
I don't want to become that kind of person.<\/p>\n

That craftsman had some great skills! He was really talented!<\/p>\n
I\u2019d like to do the kind of work where people say that.<\/p>\n

And to ensure that this is properly passed on to junior colleagues and younger employees, I would like them to be free to think and act creatively.<\/p>\n
Our job as middle-aged guys is to explore what lies beyond technology, educate young people, and look out for them!!<\/p>\n
